After another week of painting, oiling and sanding, Ben arrived on Thursday and helped Ewan finish the ceiling in our bedroom.


Ewan was off to the Outer Isles for a week so I headed down the road to help Wendy to subdue the garden and get it back to its more cultivated and comfortable best.

After a week of TV and comfort, we went back to the new house for the weekend and brushed various finishing treatments onto various surfaces.

Cara and June visited on Friday, so we had a restful evening, but the rest of the weekend was busy.

The internal kitchen wall was painted yellow and the external walls were re-lime-washed to freshen them up after 6 months of building grime. The internal living room wallls were painted green and the external wall also re-limewashed.

Less obvious, but very time-consuming, was the oiling of the beams, the posts, the wooden bedroom ceiling, the staircase and the cladding around the bath.

We're still struggling with our colour schemes - basically we don't like the same colours and the compromise colours that we've tried as samples have displeased both of us, so I'm going

It is intended that Millie will help Tober get firewood from the woods down below
to order some more... maybe eventually we'll have tiny pots of all 108 colours in the range and still won't have picked anything.

We've painted the wall beside the fireplace dark green in almost every house we've lived in - it seems to be the only colour we can compromise on

Gordon brought some samples of stained and ripple glass for us to look at. We plan to use it to do the internal windows - these are two that we really like
