St Mary's Cathedral
A Scottish Episcopal Church Today, we went in to Edinbrugh on the bus straight to St. Mary's Cathedral. It was so nice to walk down the street and be the only ones walking on the sidewalk (Sunday morning) after the crowds of yesterday. We arrived at St. Mary's an hour before the service started, so we had plenty of time to explore the beautiful Cathedral and I took lots of pictures. Then we attended the 10:30 Festival Eucharist. it was a nice service with a big procession with insence and choral/organ music.
After church we had lunch at Ryans Bar. John couldn't have a beer because of "blue laws" that say alcohol can't be served before 12:30 on Sunday. But we had a good lunch anyway.
Then we went to "Rachmaninov after lunch"at a recital at 100 Princess street. The performance was on the third floor of a large building at a recital room that also had a full restaurant, tea room, and a members reading room. We were ushered into the reading room to wait quietly before the recital began. It was a great place to "rest your eyes". Then we heard a beautiful piano recital by a lovely young woman in
St. Mary's Cathedral
as we approach from the rear a long green gown who played well and had very graceful arm movements at the piano. Very enjoyable and relaxing.
Back down on the street, we ran into Sara B and some of our group of teens on their way to "Zombie Prom". We decided to go with them and get tickets to see the show. The show was a take off on "Grease" - good in some parts and not so good in others.
Then we sprinted (walked fast) to catch the train at Waverly station to Musslebrugh and MADE IT! We walked to the QMU dinning hall, had dinner , and went back to our rooms to relax. Ahhhhhhh!
