The heading pretty much describes this update. Well, finally feel like I’ve settled and our flat feels like home, well for the next 6 weeks anyway! Yep, 6 weeks and Europe here we come. I didn’t know that it was ever possible but I think I’m officially over alcohol…. Well for this week anyway.
It’s been party, party, party. Once we recovered from the flu obtained in sunny Ireland there was no stopping us. Headed out on the town to watch some guys at work play in a band, they were surprisingly very good! A huge group from work went to support them and followed on with a few spots afterwards, from what I can remember it was a really good night. My work buddy Stewart had a little to drink and told everyone that we were Batman and Robin, a well oiled banking machine… yep that’s what I’m working with kids. Very good value though. They’re quite big on spirit doubles here, one thing for sure is they know how to drink, and my new fave work girls love tequila, well did like tequila. I’ve been really lucky with work, everyone’s been very friendly, very funny, good environment
to work in. I spent the Sunday in bed and then migrated to the couch. Big Brother has started here and it seriously makes Oz BB seem normal - they’re psycho!! Yep, I’m addicted, not that I really have much choice of any TV here, it is VERY ordinary unless you have cable.
So this past Friday it was a guy from works’ last day and our bosses decided to shout us lunch and give us half a day off, so we sat in a bar all day and drank… all well and good to begin with but gets very messy when you start playing drinking games, at around 1:30pm, don’t finish up til 1am and people get so drunk they pass out, throw up, argue with one another and your joined by ‘Dolly’ the blow up sheep… and that’s just a little taste for the shenanigans that went on… I will say no more…. Apart from the fact the work floor was VERY quiet today and there were a few embarrassed faces. Saturday I felt VERY dodgy, but got a little excited because the sun had finally decided to show its face here and when it does people
go a little crazy and think its summer, we were out and about in our thongs (flip flops, god I hate saying flip flops) and ¾ pants, even needed my sunnies, who’da thunk!! The Leith festival was on so we went for a wonder and headed down to the wharf and Ocean Terminal, was absolutely stuffed when I returned, had a wee nanny nap and was out to another bar to meet up with Brooke and co. Then headed to a club (never again), possibly one of the worst in Edinburgh, if your ever here partying don’t go to a place called ‘Espionage’, it’s across 5 floors, no ventilation, packed, hens party’s, boys hanging around like packs of hyena’s in mating season - scary stuff I won’t say more. Anyhoo, I behaved myself and was home by 2, all in all a pretty ordinary night. Had to save myself for a day at the cricket!!
So… we were up bright and early to see Scotland play Warwickshire, I now think Scotland possibly are the worst cricket team in the world.. they lost by just over 100 runs. However, it was a very good day, the sun apparently had been
Fraser
His last day at work... %-( out enough on Saturday so it was a little chilly by the end of the day, but I still managed to get sunburnt - go figure!! There’s nothing like a bit of cricket to make you feel like your home! There was a group of us, plenty of beer, our own little portable Barbie, a bit of backyard cricket and an attempt to get the very tame crowd to do the Mexican wave - the kids were in on it, so was Julie, who actually managed to stop the game and was asked over the P.A. system to stop the wave… agh they’re no fun. The players thought it was funny. I had tears rolling down my cheeks - all in all a great day! Made me miss my cricket and its amazing how much random stuff you can talk about during a game, especially a boring game!
And on that note I’ve bored you enough…. Oh how the tables have turned, another sunny day today, think I actually may need to purchase a summer jacket…. Do you think they can use some of that NSW flood water for the VIC water bucket? Also noted in the news that
the Pies lost today… yay, I hear some of you say!! Not happy Jan!! I had to pay for my Europe trip today - I’m now very broke…. I really don’t like this super save travel thing, so hard not to buy the things you normally buy! Test of strength, even scarier the cost of going out and drinking, agh just another reason to give up. . . . AS IF!!
Okay, so maybe I hadn’t bored you enough.
Xoxoxoxox
P.S. Hope everyone is doing flabulous!
P.P.S. I miss my bed, my couch, my car, my clothes…. Oh and all of you xoxoxo
