good start
nice and flat for 1/4 mile Walking Day 5 Amberley to Steyning
Huge breakfast to start the day and Mary had gone to the store to be sure I had gluten-free cereal. It was a very tasty one that I wish we could get in Canada. We started out the day with a gruelling uphill that kept going up every time we turned a corner. Then it actually became a pleasant stroll, then a very hot walk and back to a pleasant stroll. Lunch was at Frankland Arms and it was very good and the place was a very TV typical looking English pub. Fantastic views to the channel and to the north from Chanctonbury Hill (not quite a mountain). Not lost even once – asked almost everyone we saw whenever there was a chance of being anywhere other than SDW. Lots of people out walking, cycling and picnicking since tomorrow is a Bank Holiday. Arrived into Steyning and it’s the largest village yet and actually has lots of stores which were closed since it’s Sunday. Oh well. 30,228 steps
