Engagement Day
Celebrating Krispy Kreme style! It's going to be a long update so here goes...
WEll, RIchard arrived on Saturday, Nov. 8. The tube station nearest to my house wasn't active so I had to take a bus to a different tube line but it worked really well because it went directly to the Airport. After 1.5 hours on the tube plus the bus ride, I was ready to see him! I waited for about 30 minutes after his plane landed and got chatting to a random lady when I got bored. I missed the moment of him coming down the runway right up to me but whatever the case, he stared at me long enough to get me saying "HEY BABY!" So, it was quite a cool moment. WE piled his stuff into the tube and came back to the house. It took a lot longer to get everything done that I Had planned but we had a quick lunch and headed out to London as I wanted to take him to a few spots. It got later and later and we ended up just going to London Bridge, enjoying a Krispy Kreme donut and espresso/mocha on the go. WE managed after a wrong
Big Ben
Where I thought I was getting engaged....in March! Smiles... turn to get a great spot to watch the fireworks going off on Waterloo Bridge. It was quite neat. Afterwards we came home, chatted for a while and called it a day!
Sunday we went to Alex's rugby practice and part of his game which was cool, literally. It was also very muddy and Richard ended up landing on his butt but only got a bit of mud on him! Impressive as I had a friendly dog paw on my pants and I looked filthy by the time the experience was over! Haha, it was a laugh though. In the afternoon we had lunch with the kids, fed the ducks at the park and went with them to Covent Garden. Lynne and Dave went to New York and Grama Anne was looking after the kids for the most part but had a get together that afternoon. We got a rickshaw ride at Covent Garden, listened to some music, watched a few performers and browsed the various little shops. The kids were quite stoked as they had never been on a rickshaw, it's a little carriage driven by a person on a pedal bike. I think this guy had his
London Eye view w/Richard
Big Ben is just behind us there... work cut out for him with the 4 of us! WE went to th4 evening service at St. Barnabas, where I usually go at 11:30. Oh, I must add that we got together with Chris and Hannah - went to KFC together. It was funny, they have baked beans and corn on the cob! Interesting eh?
Monday was the 6 month anniversary of becoming an official couple so we were celebrating with a day out in London. We went out in the rain to St. Paul's Cathedral. I had a little feeling that maybe I would be getting a proposal like I'd practiced with my Barbies so many years ago! With the jokes aside, Richard did the awesome knee proposal coming prepared with the beautiful ring we'd both fallen in love with back in July. It was a really sweet moment and even though we are both a little fuzzy on what was said, the main words were spoken and now we are officially engaged! The rest of the day was pretty cool randomly running around London. We got a ride on one of the old heritage buses and had a nice meal at a random pub called the
Indian Cuisine in Oxford
This is the main course but we had pompadoms and samosa's to start...mmm, it was delicious and we were stuffed! London Stone, good food. WE got together with Hannah and Chris and Marc for Krispy Kreme donuts. WE drove to Enfield for the actual factory donuts and scored a free donut on top of the 24 we bought! Mmm, what a night! Hannah made some stew so we ate a little bit healthy.
Tuesday we went back out in London to explore Madame Tussaud's, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, etc. It was an awesome day out, experienced Big Brother at MT's too, we had to do the YMCA dance, Richard got the DVD so maybe we'll see it on youtube one day! It was a perfect day weather wise, company wise and everything else too. We went to Alpha together but found that the tube wasn't working that night, got a bus and had a very long walk to the church. We got there just in time for dinner and took in the service about God's guidance for our lives.
Wednesday was a home day where I took the kids to school as usual, did my abs and back class with R, cleaned house while he fixed the washer and cupboard. We went to Quantum of Solace (James Bond movie) with Hannah and Chris which was a cool show. Thursday we went into London again to check out Borough Market, London Eye, Camden Town, NOtting hill and anything else we still wanted to see there together. It was a nice day out again, whoo hoo! It was cool and started raining later in the afternoon. After a random walk to find the London Zoo, we found it had closed for entry! So much for the hour walk getting there. I was done by that point...we took spin class that night and Richard actually liked it! Well, if you want to put it that way....We decided to have a nice dinner out, (Italian style) to celebrate our engagement as the time was passing and we had barely acknowledged the celebration part of it!
Friday is a blur but we did a few things and went to the gym for Body Pump. WE had to babysit that night so we took the kids bowling which was seriously fun. R had never bowled before and we both got strikes! It was sweet although Rhiannon kicked our butts with the railing she got set up for herself!
Saturday we went to Oxford. We took a bus tour around the town and then walked around checking out the markets and stuff. I ate some amazing indian cuisine, mmm - glad R was so dead set on trying it! We got to go to Christ Church and attend a service as well which was quite cool. Oxford has neat history and stories...Alice in Wonderland is huge there! They have Alice's shop where she apparently bought her sweets from the movie. That reminds me, I have a candy cane from that, going to try it as I write this blog...oh, it is quite tasty.
Sunday we went into London to Nicky Gumbel's Church, Holy Trinity Brompton. It was an amazing church and the service was sweet. The worship music was incredible. WE enjoyed a nice family roast dinner that evening before RIchard was to leave.
Monday was hard, saying goodbye and really going back to life without Richard (in some senses). I had my camera in my jacket pocket and when I got into the airport, it was missing. I never heard it drop or even felt it so I don't know what happened but I was thoroughly distressed! Icontacted everyone possible and retraced every step short of getting back on the tube line (the trains come every 3 minutes so there are loads even on the same line...). When it was all said and done, we prayed together enjoyed another Krispy Kreme donut and parted ways. I was totally exhausted from all the late nights earlier in the week and fell asleep again part of the way home.
Pretty much life as usual this week except Lynne's mom's b-day was on Wednesday, yesterday. It was her 75th bday and was it a party! They had a 70 something singer wearing a mini skirt. I have to say that she had a great body for someone that age and I would never have thought she was that old unless someone had spilled the beans. I got to dancing with one of the old party attendee's and got to hold one of the babies there, it was quite nice. So< i look forward to mommyville one day but in the meantime, enjoying other people's kids now. So, I better close this as it is a long update. Have a great day/night HUgs - Chloe
