Malton to Boynton

Nigel brought us to Boynton Hall where he is cleaning a carved stone fireplace for the owner, Richard Marriott. Richard took us on a tour of the house and grounds, which he has been restoring since he and his wife Sally purchased it in 1981. There has been a house on this site since the 1300's, and has been the family seat (Strickland) since about 1550.

Carved painted limestone, this Strickland coat of arms is in the family chapel of St. Andrews, just outside the estate. Note turkey on the top, whose head I've cut off.
