Felipe's Birthday Party
Dancing with Sabrina to Brazilian music Hi everyone! I'm simultaneously having a lovely time & missing you tremendously!
This past week has been busy busy busy. My friend Felipe's birthday was last weekend, he had a party at his flat down the road. He's an exchange student from Brazil, therefore most of the students at the party were also exchange students from all over the world...resulting in lots multilingual conversations throughout the flat all at once, it was a bit surreal. Almost like how Mamella's house was when everyone in the family went there and a million conversations were being yelled in Italian all at once, except here it was Spanish, German, Portuguese, etc.
My classes have been so interesting, for the most part. Especially 'Enduring Realism' because many of the novels we're reading are written by authors I've never read but have always wanted to read. Right now I'm reading "The Years" by Virginia Woolf.
Thursday my dorm had a formal dinner. Everyone got dressed up and had dinner, then in the common room a casino was set up. The warden gave us tickets that we cashed in for "2000 pounds" worth of chips and they hired professional dealers for blackjack, poker and

My table. I tried lamb that night! It was delicious roulette. The person with the most chips won a bottle of wine and some money and second place won lots of chocolate.
Friday I went to an aerobics class run by a girl in my dorm. I expected it to be easy, but she was like a drill sergeant! It was fun but so rigorous...yesterday I felt semi-sore, but today I can barely move! I can't even walk down the stairs to go eat in the dining halls, I have to take the elevator and I only live on the second floor.
Yesterday I went on this trip called a Rag Raid. It's a charity event that all the dorms on campus can take part in. The idea of it is that everyone gets dressed up in whatever theme is chosen and then take a bus to a location in England and collect donations for different charities. So yesterday the theme was Pajamas. At 6:45 am, people go around the dorms and knock on your door really loud to wake you up for the trip. The trip was to Liverpool, so at 7 am we all loaded a bus dressed in our crazy pajama outfits and embarked on

Joey and I a 3 hour journey.
Once there, we were given giant yellow top-hats, yellow collecting tins and a box of fabric yellow daffodil pins to give to people who donated money. We collected for the Marie Curie Cancer Cure, the donations went to treating people with cancer in their own homes.
We were free to collect for as long as we wanted to and then explore Liverpool. Because The Beatles are from Liverpool there were lots of Beatles stores, and I couldn't leave without going to "The Beatles Story," an amazing exhibition with artifacts, replicas of venues the Beatles played in, video footage, an audio tour, and lots more! I also went to the Tate art museum which was fantastic! It had modern, surrealist and avant-garde art, I loved it.
On the bus ride back from Liverpool they gave awards to people for Best Dressed and Best Collector. I was dressed so silly, I wore pajama shorts with ducks on them and the green socks I wore on Christmas and a tie-dye shirt, which won me Best Dressed. My prize was a pair of neon green leg warmers. Anybody want them? 😊
So now I'm gonna take

Me, Kurt, Wenji it easy and hope my muscles stop aching soon! I haven't taken many photos but I'll post what I have, most are actually photos other people took.
Sending tons of love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
