Africa Overland

Gibraltar to Cairo The Long Way Round

As I am now less than a week from the beginning of what is one of the ultimate overland trips, I thought it was about time I looked into setting up some form of travelblog, so people can track me across Africa. I am not promising the beginnings of a best seller or anything to the high standards set by Ray or Michelle.

So almost 8 years since the end of my last overland trip, the current state of the economy has finally given me the push into beginning another one. This time at least there is a bit more of an itinerary, last time all I had when I set off was a start point of Singapore and a finish point of Bolton.

A week today I will find myself on an Easy Jet flight somewhere over the Bay of Biscay on my way to Gibraltar, the beginning of a trip that will take me (successful visa applications pending) through Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Mali, Burkino Faso, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, DR Congo, Angola, Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Sudan, Ethiopia and finishing in Egypt next August.

Internet access pending I hope to update this as I go along, adding a few photos along the way, so keep coming back to have a look where I am.
