Call 2 Adventure

I wish I had discovered this blog years ago. I did the mass email update for my previous adventures (United States and Europe) and now have no online documentation to share with fellow travelers. To the chagrin of some friends and family wanderlust has struck again. I managed to stay focused for nearly a year and a half in a job related to my college education, however the desire to travel has grown strong again and can no longer be suppressed. Breathtaking scale, proportions, geometry.....

If a person in modern times is put in awe of this space I cannot imagine what a peasant of 900 years ago thought.

The Norman church suffered a great fire, these stones have been marked with a mason's "x" indicating that they were not damaged/compromised by the fire and could stay in place during the rebuild

Roof top tour - note the nearly 3 foot coorection in the vaults.

They started the rebuild at the crossing tower and worked their way towards the surviving west front. Despite their best efforts with the tools of the day the masons found that the nave had deviated in alignment.... imagine that conversation with the bishop and mason when the error was discovered.
