Stockhol sunset
very cold ducks Well well,
here we are folks at the end of the trip, only 3 more sleeps till the self destructive 24hr flight home to reality...
But what a week it has been.
Lets start with stockholm, in one word magnificent. An amazing archipeligo and beautiful park lands, and freezing *%ing cold. -2 degrees was the average for the weekend that we were there. Seems like a long time ago now, but the old town was lovely, and we had some fantastic meals, i can recommend roast elk, supperb. got stupidly cold one day walking around the open air museum, saw reindeer, ate about 4 rounds of pastries and then walked to the lookout tower at 2.30pm for sunset (yes i am serious). The cold makes you so tired, proof of this is whilst watching the lovely sunset, i attempted to stay awake with 3 espresson shots. failed within 5mins of finishing the last one, and had a nice little nana nap on the couch for about 20minuntes. fairly embarrasing.
Stockholm redefined cold. we thogght previously on our trip that we had been cold, we were wrong. Stockholm is very cold. The rivers were froen over...i repeat the rivers were frozen
Reindeer
A close relative of the elk (yummy) over, even the ducks looked cold. spent a whole afternoon skimming river ice over the frozen lake, it makes a very satisfying twinkle. No wonder 80% of the swedish population commit suicide over winter (for those that know the joke).
Although Stockholm, even at -2 is amazingly beautiful.
After stockholm, back to Lund and then we did a few days trips, 'around the sound' and a copenhagen day trip. Around the sound or oresund if your not a local. was great, had the traditional prawn and beer on the ferry and visited one of the fancy local danish art museums. Which is the first contempory art museum we have been to, and its was pretty good, loved the manga exhibition, but the super contemporary stuff i am not so taken on. I like to at least be able to associate the title of the painting with something in the painting, call me old fashioned, but a painting title the crucifixtion, which is just an arrangemnent of blobs doesn't really cut it for me. But we were all pretty much o the same thinking so we moved pretty quickly thorugh that exhibit. then movd on to hang out with the local
weed smokers in copenhagen, which was great fun, Christiania is a kindof slum/hippie village which in thier own words is not part of the EU...hence drugs are openly available and consummed in public.
New Years...well well well, what debaucherous affair. We headed to an exclusive partly in Malmo, held by a mate of stus from ericson. Fancy smancy, beef burgandy for dinenr, and pannacotta for dessert (don't be surprised by my sudden explosive weight gain, the recurrent theme of food is in fact not exaggerated). So the food was amazing, the drink overconsumed, and hence buy 12,30 i was asleep on the couch, ohhhh some things never change. Its official i am a sleepy drunk. Fireworks fantastic, vodka not good the next day.
Our last day in scandinavia, was spent in copenhagen seeing the sights, and it snowed heavily for 5mins whist we were at the little mermaid...funny but cold. went to the carlsberg museum whcih was great, i hereby declare all work places whould have a cupboard for you 'beer alloawance' awesome. Home for our last ngith with stu and em, who were fantasticc hostesses to us, thanks guys, don;'t know how we will ever repay you.
Copenhagen
THe calm after the snow Now we are in London, great day seeingt he sights after a hefty drinking session last night with Duds, Trini and Yuda, (duds is a mate of my brothers). saw buckers (new name for buckingham palace) trafalgar square, british museum and all that other stuff (whitehall, big ben, westminster abbey etc). Three more sleeps and the rest of london to see. Tomorrow, tower of london, tower bridge, st pauls catherdral and maybe tate modern for just that little bit more culture.
Can't believe that we come home so soon, time has flown. it is true that it moves relative to how much fun you have. Perceived speed of time is proportional to how much fun you are having (or maybe it should be the rate at which good times are occuring) newly proposed theory.
Hpe that everyone is well, and see you all in less than a week.
love sctty and ness
ps beers and then writing blog = more inverseting blog.
