The following is an account of the first half of the week following the last post. To catch you up to speed, my best friend Michael has arrived in London, we celebrated my 21st Birthday on the 15th. Ok....action:
Wow....I cannot believe my body has not collapsed yet. After having a crazy Spring Break with Tara (Madison), the week with Michael was definitely part 2. Showing him around the city during the day, partying it up at night, getting back around 3:30am, waking up around 10am for class, sending Michael to do something fun, meeting up with him...repeat, repeat, repeat. It was an incredible, yet exhausting week. Better do it when you're young.
Monday- Started out with my class at 9:00am. What a way to begin the day after your birthday. I left Michael sleeping on the couch, and headed out (I thought about waking him up at 7:30 am for the hell of it, but decided against it). Lindsey has a class around 12:20, so Michael traveled with her and met me, Deborah, and Pammy at school for lunch after our classes let out. After lunch we went to buy tickets to La Cage aux Folles, staring Graham
Norton (most of you probably won't know who he is, but some might). I then left him to visit a few museums as I went back to class. After class we headed to dinner and the show. The show as very very funny, and good, but oh man...Graham Norton should stick to anything but singing (at parts the audience started to laugh..seriously). Due to this, the show gets a 3.5 Gold Bergs. That night we met up with my friend Aaron and two of his friends for a night out on the London town. Such ensued another long, but extremely enjoyable night.
Tuesday was Saint Patrick's Day and my flatmate Deborah's Birthday. So a busy day was planned for sure. I had a class from 12:20-2, during which Michael explored the British Museum. He then joined me for lunch where we indulged in yummy yummy sushi! My afternoon class was scheduled to take a tour of the BBC (as you know I already did that, but had to again for this class). Coincidentally (or God's way of planning) Europe's largest mall is located right near where I was traveling too. For those of you who know Michael, Europe's largest
mall = Heaven. So he walked around there and bought out half the mall, while I took the same exact tour I had previously experienced. (Who got the better deal of that one?)
Then it was time to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and Deb Deb's b-day. With the Elgin being our favorite local pub, we headed there to get some yummy drinks and celebrate! After being there for a while, Tara, Michael and I went to another pub, where this happened. We ordered very large beers, and then proceeded to a table. As we sat down, a staff member comes over and goes "Ten minutes 'till closing". Are you joking?! You can imagine how enjoyable the next 10 minutes were....
Wednesday was my no class day, so Michael and I went to Covent Garden. We met my good friend Emily for lunch in Chinatown, and tried to buy tickets to see Mamma Mia, unfortunately there were sold out 😞. Michael and I then walked around stopping to buy a delicious cupcake for desert (Candy Cakes is one of the best things ever!!!) Michael looked for a present for his Sister In-Law Nicole and got her a ....... not
going to tell. (Sorry Nicole, I couldn't give away the surprise) Although he didn't find the gift that day, he ended up getting her something really really nice.
OHHHHH I forgot to mention!!!!! I bought boxers with the Tube map on it!!!!! I know....how amazing! Now, if I get lost I just have to pull down my pants (just kidding Mom)
Michael then treated me to my birthday gift...a new pair of Birkenstocks! The last pair I had, which he actually bought for me in Europe when we traveled there during the summer after our Junior year of High School, were completely destroyed, so it was time for a new pair. Thank you very much for the gift!
At night we had a bunch of people over and had a big barbecue/picnic thingy. The food was delicious and we held a Cider (its like a spiked apple juice) Pong Tournament. If you don't know what beer pong is, then you won't know the game, but we held a tournament and guess who came out as the victors? That's right...Michael and I!!!! We all hung out that night and really had a great time.
The rest of
the weekend will be posted tomorrow, as I don't want to make this too long. So enjoy the pictures and this limited edition segment:
Lean back and relax, Michael, dubbed Sir Michael Oliver Malvasio XIV of Brunswick, would like to share a few words that he wrote this morning on the official Sir Darren Nigel blog:
Hello everyone!!! (HI MOM!) I am getting ready to head to Heathrow right now and I am so sad to be leaving London. I had a wonderful time! Thanks to Darren I think I saw everything the city has to offer. We had so much fun, but are exhausted after a week of going out and basically not sleeping : ). Can't wait to come again, Alright, gtg, NYC here I come!
Sir DNG back....until the next entry!
Trivia Answer: It was opened to the public in March 2000, and was reportedly only supposed to last as a celebration of the millennium. The popularity of it has kept it opened until this day. Pictures of Michael and my ride will be on the next entry.
Trivia Question: What rank in the standings is the Football Team Everton (the one I
support) currently?
Londoner,
Sir Darren Nigel Goldberg III of Maida Vale
