Hallo!
(Shout out to Megan Camillo! If you don't know her, facebook her.)
So I have to admit the real reason why I haven't posted in a few days. I am extremely ashamed to say that the reason is....ahhh....is.....I can't say it!....ok, I will: I have been doing homework.
I have a project due on Monday (who gives projects out in London) and I have to finish it tonight because this weekend I am going to Edinburgh!!! (still do not know how to pronounce it correctly).
I am super excited though to go to Edinburgh! We are leaving tomorrow night and arrive back on Sunday night. Who knows exactly what I will be doing there....but you will be sure to find out Sunday night!
As you are all aware by now, Wednesday is my day off from school....and I had a good one! Yesterday during my break in between classes, I decided to plan ahead (rare), and venture out to see if I could pick up a ticket to the Matinee of "Oliver!" starring Mr. Bean...Rowan Atkinson. I got the last ticket. The show was....VERY VERY GOOD! I was shocked at the end when Rowan Atkinson
got close to a 5 minute standing ovation (my hands got tired). I mean he was extremely good in the part, but the British audiences always surprise me. Sometimes they clap when famous people (to them) come out on stage and sometimes not. There was another one of those theater reality shows to choose the Oliver and Nancy of this west end production. When Oliver came out....nothing (poor kid), when Nancy came out....the place went NUTS! There were class trips in the audience, and the little girls screamed sooo loud. I thought I lost my hearing for a second.
I do have to say it was weird seeing some parts of the show, because certain lines and lyrics came back to me as if I had just played the role of "Oliver" last week. Maybe if they need an understudy I will make my West End debut before I leave (if they pay me enough, obviously). "Oliver!" earns a surprising (probably not) 5/5 Gold Bergs. Well done Mr. Bean.
WAIT! I totally forgot, for about 5 seconds or so Rowan broke into his Mr. Bean character and the place went nuts, it was hilarious...ok, review done.
Yesterday,
I was trying to get home, and because of a dumb rugby match (although watching it on tv here is pretty cool, the whole country is rooting again France, its great), the tube was crowded! I took some pictures of the gates to the station being closed to stop people from packing the platforms. I never saw it this crowded and hope to never see it like this again.
The London Paper strikes again! There is a section called "Love Struck" where you can text in thoughts. Here are two entries:
1. "You're the gorgeous guy with the blue eyes walking into Green Park station last Thursday afternoon as I was leaving. I stood to fix myself, but wished I'd said something. Coffee?" From: Brunette with Black Coat
2. "You are the cute woman with a caramel bag on the Victoria line at 5:30pm. You got off at Finsbury Park. Your beauty left me speechless." From: Asian Guy in Headphones.
Welcome to another addition of: Obnoxiously Annoying Person of the Day. Today's is actually a group. A group of 15 sixteen year old girls. They got on the tube yesterday (so I guess technically its Obnoxiously
Annoying Person of Yesterday), and started screaming and carrying on. They had thick english accents, but being the creepy stalker I am, I read the paper one of them was holding. "Drama Students London Class Trip Itinerary." Not that I have anything against Drama students, but put 15 girls studying "Drama" in a close-cramped space, you are bound to create drama. I left the tube and wanted to pop some pills immediately (Tylenol....what were you thinking?). Congratulations Group of Girls who boarded the Bakerloo Line at Baker Street yesterday morning at around 11:45, you are officially today's (yesterday's) Obnoxiously Annoying Person (group).
Bonus Story!: So tonight someone how Tara (who I actually just typed at "Tarry" but then erased it) and Pammy's major came up. It is interior design. I referred to them as artists and this was Tara's response: "WOAH! Artists is something people do on weekends in their garage. I....am a designer."
