Howdy!
So yesterday was quite the experience! It was one of those days that makes you really wish you had 200,000,000 pounds (imagine that in dollars).
But first....time for a West End Theater Review with Sir Darren Nigel.
The Sound of Music: It was a very good show. The cast was huge. Big casts allow for better singing during power ballads, which I love. The singing was phenomenal, and most of all, the kids were too cute! The little girl dancing and singing "So Long, Farewell...", the audience couldn't handle it. I wonder how little kids like that are able to be so brave and so talented. Overall I would highly recommended it (it does close in February though, so good luck). I have discovered that being a theater critic is not my calling and I am too easy to please. It gets: 5/5 Gold Bergs.
Back to yesterday (or the future...your choice). The day started out with a trip to Windsor Castle. Holy..... The rooms were amazing! Gold everywhere, ceilings higher than the eye can see (not really, but...you get the point). We got to see all of the China that the Queen has at her
finger tips. Her favorite set to use, a blueish one (according to Pammy, blue plates are the worst to use because food does not look appetizing on it), has over 200 place settings...with each one...yes each one...valued at a whopping 100,000 pounds! (Are you joking!) I was so shocked. But of course it gets better. There was one piece of art...or furniture (i forget how they described it, that was the single most expensive piece in the whole castle...worth (bare with my loose conversion): $370,000,000. (Hey mom, make room, I snuck out a Mother's Day gift for you). The palace was huge, and made me really want to become King (but just for like....one week, or year, I couldn't deal with everyone being fake because of my power and wealth.....i like the sound of that).
After we departed Windsor Castle, it was time for lunch. A bunch of us found this nice Chinese Restaurant by the castle where we decided to go in. I indulged in the specialized cuisine and got...Fish and Chips! It was my first localized Fish and Chips experience, and I enjoyed it! If it was good at a Chinese Restaurant...imagine what its like in real

Victoria, Pammy, Me, Deborah English Place.
Later that evening, Love London weekend continued. (it was going to with or without me, so I chose with). Victoria and I went to a small theater to sit with some fellow SU Students and Staff to watch the play "Loot." There were some famous people in it....but being non-British, I knew none. The show was very funny, and afterward we got to have a free (probably included in the price of the ticket, which was subsidized for us) curry dinner with the cast. I am not a huge fan of Indian food...but I liked it. My question is: Where was the fish and chips?
Oh! I totally forgot...so before the show...but after the castle, I took my first trip to Harrods! Where to even start with this one. If you don't know what it is. Wikipedia will help:
"Harrods is a department store located on Brompton Road in Knightsbridge, London, England. The store occupies a 4.5-acre (18,000 m2) site and has over one million square feet of selling space in over 330 departments. This makes Harrods one of the largest department stores in the world together with Macy's New York."
Ok, there you
go. Also, everything there is SUPER expensive. When they have sales...it is like: 70% off, new price, 400 pounds. They have a food court (and not like one you are thinking of) This food court had a sushi restaurant, italian restaurant, chinese restaurant, english restaurant, and more. There was a supermarket in there, a huge toy store, and basically everything you can imagine. After looking around, and being in amazement (and wishing I had all the money in the world), I descended upon the Dolce and Gabbana men's boxer-brief section. Now, not to get to personal, but....I bought this pair which looked really nice, had great material....and best of all....had "DG" written on the waistband (which will be visible when wearing bathing suits). So...if you get where this is going, how could I resist....who doesn't want a nice pair of boxer-briefs with their initials on it?!?! (ok this sounds weirder typing it out then it did in my head) But seriously, my parents must have named me knowing I could eventually buy D&G clothes and not have to pay for the embroidery! (thanks mom and dad)
Oh, and I bought 3 Godiva truffles at the Sweets Section.
That
pretty much sums up my day yesterday. Today includes a Bike Tour around London and the Ballet later tonight.
Bonus Story: I was in Windsor Castle and, along with Pammy, went up to one of the people working there. I said "Now...don't take this the wrong way....but.....................I was curious, after watching a short video that showed the Queen sitting in an open car, if anyone has tried to assassinate her." He said, yes, once 40 years ago. I think I might be on a list now...uh oh.
Trivia Answer: Approximately 16%, or 8 million people.
