AT THE FITZROY SQUARE.. June 2016 and again Feb 2017 were two visits to the United Kingdom. It was a long flying time of around 11 hours. First time we had taken such a long journey and getting tired of sitting ! Though we were watching movies, snacking in between the boredom of long journey does irritate at times. We landed at the Heathrow airport in the afternoon of 20 th June.
It was indeed quite pleasant and cold. For us from India with a temperature of 37 Deg it was pretty cold at 16 deg. We checked into the YMCA hostel at Fitzroy square. A decent place in the central area close to Warren road tube station, supermarkets and other facilities.
The first day was just spent in the room and a evening walk around the area. The next day we visited the British Museum & London Tower bridge. It was quite thrilling to go around and we clicked snaps left and right and all the three mobiles were in action ! My daughter joined us from Bristol where she is pursuing her master's in television and Film technology. She was more familiar with London and was her guide all through.
The
next day was a superb cruise ride on Thames, the Big Ben , London Eye , London Parliament and around. This was part of our Big Bus tour which I had booked online from India.
The river cruise was indeed a wonderful experience cruising along important landmarks which were along the banks either side. The landmarks which we we saw were
The london bridge,Big Ben, the Parliament building,City of London school ( Daniel Radcliffe - The Harry Potter boy studied here), Tower bridge, The Shard, St Pauls Cathedral and the Globe theatre. All our camera's were on clicking spree and some shots were really good which I m sharing on the blog.
The next trip planned was to the St Paul's Cathedral and the West minster Abbey. Here we could see the graves of all the eminent personalities over the years. We were thrilled to find the graves of Charles Darwin,Charles Dickens , Sir Issac Newton, David Livingstone, Rudyard Kipling ,Robert Browning and many more famous personalities. The building was marvelous. The Buckingham palace was next spot. With over 800 rooms built in 1703 this is one of the largest tourist attractions in the UK. The giant gates, vast walkways

ALONG THE THAMES.. leading to the main entrance looks majestic.
Queen Victoria's statue in the foreground is massive. So much was the crowd that we could rarely click a shot without any one else in the frame 😊 Took a break at the St Paul,s cafe with hot chocolate drink..
I was also updating my facebook to give an uddate to all family and friends back home with lots of photos. Thanks to technology as they were with me throughout.. !!
Well had to wind up my trip soon as got a message that m mom is seriously ill at home in India. Took the British Airways flight net day...
But we do plan to come for the convocation at the University of Bristol and also cover more places in Feb 2016... see you soon.
Cheers
