There is not a lot to report from this morning, largely as i was blogging until 2am and then I didn't wake up until 10.30am. I did have to crawl out of my sack though when Cockers new 42" inch smart TV arrived. It is always a pleasure to see a fully grown man as excited as a 5 year old at Xmas. Actually once he had connected it to the internet i was also rather intrigued.
We had lunch at home and then left the house to head into town. After a bit of 'googling' i managed to find a camera shop near Covent Garden. I am taking photos with the iphone at the moment as the DSLR needs needs an MOT to clean the sensor. Good news is that I should be back on track Wednesday afternoon.
Yesterday after spending a couple of hours on the blog via the ipad i decided i was going to go and buy a Macbook Air today. There is an apple shop in covent garden (3 floors!). The guy was gobsmacked when i wanted to pay with cash, i explained our situation with spending limits on cards. Interestingly somebody from another
country had been into the shop earlier in the day and similarly had to withdraw cash over a period of days to be able to pay for a laptop. Any FI's be to the apple shop in Covent Garden today? Having the laptop will mean i can continue with my photography diploma whilst travelling.
I really like Covent Garden. There was an amazing 'living statue' act, i haven't got a clue how he was doing it? (Sam has subsequently told me, how cool), there seemed to be a lot attention around an escape artist also. Sam and I decided it was snack time and settled with the newly opened Shakeshack. We went for the Shack-cago hot dogs and had 2 mesiter ales to wash it down. It is well worth a look, there was also some top quality classical musical being played live in the building. The string quintet (ZHL strings) were great and very energetic. Fiona Oliver Smith an opera singer also sang O mio babbino Caro which i have always loved since watching the movie Raging Bull.
Had a gander in some of the outdoor clothing shops as i prepare myself for the warmer climates of
Tanzania and Thailand. There was some potential but all i walked away with was a pair of Kathmandu sandals, i now own 4 pairs of shoes! I could of had a lot of fun in North Face with a footballers salary. I also managed to find a Kimchi (Korean) restaurant which means wednesday lunch is catered for (I will tell you about it Paul Howes).
Last port of all was another trip to Whole Foods to get the ingredients for supper. It was my turn to cook tonight. Oh boy! i thought yesterday was great, this place was at least 10 times the size. It will not surprise you that we went wild and grossly overspent. Dinner was a delight nevertheless. Chilli and garlic prawns, thai fish cakes, a Pollardised Pebre, sweet red peppers stuffed with feta, queen olives stuffed with blue cheese, roasted Mediterranean vegetables and focaccia. A selection of foods like this has to be one of my favourites and most social meals to eat.
For the remainder of today i intend to play with my MacBook Air!
