Natural History Museum
This is one of the theories for how dinosaurs became extinct. If I'm not careful this is how I'm going to become extinct in London. It's hard to believe I only have four days left of my internship. Where has my time in London gone? Pretty soon we'll be saying our goodbyes to our coworkers and then getting ready to start class right after we get back from Paris. After work today I walked over to the LSE academic office and switched out of my international business strategy class and into a finance class. The only prerequisite of the class is having taken an introductory finance class at a college level, easy enough. However, it transfers back to Babson as a level 4000 investment class. 4000 level class in just three weeks? Peace of cake. But it's actually really cool. You get to do one of those stock market competitions on this cool software program, kind of like how DJ did in the Full House TV show. I'm really competitive so I'm hoping that will entice me to do well in the class. Plus there's three other Babson kids in the class so we can have hard core study parties. Good thing I didn't actually want to have a life the last three weeks I'm in London.
On Monday I went to visit the Ahoy
Making Humans
There was a very detailed, large diagram on the wall that took you step by step and taught you how babies are made. There were about ten seven year olds reading this in front of me. Centre in Greenwich. I got very lost so it's a good ting I gave myself two hours to get there. It ended up being a blast. Ahoy Centre is a charity working with BT/Openreach and they're kind of like the YMCA back in the states where they do after school programming and other things with children of all backgrounds, in addition to catering to both adults and children with disabilities, all through water activities. I'm helping them with their marketing campaign with an emphasis on their social media. I'm really pumped but kind of bummed I only have one week left to help them out.
I got out of work early on Wednesday and headed over to the natural history museum because I heard they had a life size model of a blue whale. They did. It was great--they had all these exhibits with a bunch of animals but you could kind of tell they had run out of room and had just decided to throw some animals in a huge display area because you had an African elelphant standing next to a manatee that was next to a panda bear that was in front of a blue whale.
Bucket List!
One of the top things on my life bucket list is to swim next to a whale shark. I'm not sure you'd ever find any of those animals hanging out together in the wild.
The museum also had a large dinosaur gallery which would have been impressive if I didn't have a faint memory of going to a really awesome dinosaur museum when I was younger. I'm not sure where the other museum was, or if I'm completely making that up, but I seem to remember it being awesome. Super descriptive, I know.
The natural history museum is actually right next to where Ainscow is staying so I met up with her for Indian food for dinner. It was really expensive but really good. She ordered for me because I had no idea what was what. I had heard of it all before but I usually don't order Indian food at home so I'm always at a loss when I go out to eat. It was good to catch up with her and we bought Wicked tickets afterwards. We have crazy good seats but I'm now a broke child. We're also planning to go see Mamma Mia as she has connections with the conductor so we can get a backstage pass which I am really excited
about. And then no more musicals for me because this broke child cannot afford nice things like expensive musicals. I justified buying a little more expensive Wicked tickets by calcuating out how much money I would save if I had PB&J for the rest of my time here. Gross, but definitely worth it.
Sticking to PB&J has not actually started yet. Ayush and I went out for Indian food today because we found a place that was half off all meals while walking to McDonald's the other day. Ayush wanted me to go on Wednesday but I was having severe junk food withdrawls and once I have a picture of a big mac in my head, there's no turning back. Ayush grew up (and still lives) in India and he tried his best explaining to me what everything was on the menu but I got so confused I just got what he had but added in chicken. By the end of the meal, I was dripping in sweat. Super attractive. The food was delicious and I had fun trying to pronounce all of the names of the food on the menu. All in all, a good end of the
week meal.
