Mopeds
Mopeds for seats in Camden Hi folks travelogue No 2 from London actually from Edinburgh. Finally made it after dreaming and reading of London for the past 20 years. We hit London after walking what seemed like 20km from the plane to the underground via Immigration (princess loves collecting Visa stamps just quietly) Customs, Money Xchange and finally the train ticket office!
Yes it was wet, cold, and I can confirm the beer is not warm but not so cold either but hey they have cheap PINTS so not is all lost. London has a wacky Mayor called Boris, as strange as their currency is, they still have 2 and 4 cent pieces...Now WTF is the difference between a 1 pence and 1 penny....well the guber at Tucky Yucky (the kids wanted to pig out) said ‘nothing’ so I told him to keep the change.....and thanks for the advice. Whilst it gets dark here at 4.30pm, at least they have mastered central heating, funny that! and thanks Lou for the clothing tip!
They're fixing the place up for the Olympics so it looks a bit trashy a bit like Sydney was prior to 2000.
Absolutely plenty to see and do and will not get
Queens Guards
Spacecadets with a Queens Guard around to everything on this journey but we have to come back here 3 times (Customs did ask the question why...doh!) so we'll try and fit in the rest.
Lets start with the Underground for you prospective travellers, affectionally known as the 'Tube' OK its not as Stylish as the Metro in Greece or the MTR in Honkers but after you navigate the maze of lines (10 in all, and that doesn’t include the overground system and DLR) it appears no one has mastered the network yet and whilst the map looks like a Spaghetti Bolognaise without the pasta sauce surprisingly it works very efficiently. (As I say just follow the colours) There seems to be buses everywhere and those cute little black cabs.
Rocked up to our Lodge just down the road from Abbey Road (as in the Beatles) which had a Harry Potter feel about it and came with unisex toilets and showers Im not kidding Mixed dorms is one thing but chicks walking around wrapped with just a towel is another thing...Ahhh Europe!.. Naturally princess gets chaperoned to the showers!!!!! Oh well it seems I’ve upgraded from the mixed dorm experience in Athens! We are
Buckingham Palace
Spacecadets in front of the Palace in a private room in the Attic, so at least it’s quite and we have a view! Before I forget there was this chick from Wales on the plane to London (no pies this time) who started reading one of those Twilight Books shit it was big she was flying through it and I was rooting for her to see if she could finish it by the time we arrived but then again I wasn’t going to Wales!
Visited Camden Markets what an incredible eclectic area Im not sure if it belongs in Newtown, better still why move it, just superimpose Newtown around Camden Town. Its really out there enjoyable place folks, princess was salivating at the shopping. The markets were nothing like ours the UK are so far ahead of us, its not funny, when it comes to the latest and greatest or should that be the weirdest. Girls one for the diary, book in a whole sunday! Check the pics of the coffee shop with Mopeds for seats!
Decided to walk to St Pancreas (Eurostar) Station from Camden and got absolutely drenched so we duck waddled back to the Lodge for a warm bath and 'nana
nap' at 4.30pm and lasted till 6am the next morning! I think my V-bed at 58G just didnt do it for me!
Took princess to see the Queen and spacecadet #2 to see the toy soldiers in funny hats. The poms do it well (thats is the pomp and ceremony) dont miss it! Went to the Science Museum and shit it seems the Poms invented everything and it had the BEST aviation display Ive seen ever.... I was in my element another 500 photos. Went to Trafalgar Sq and the National Gallery and after studying Post Impressionist artist for 2 years, yes I am cultured folks! I was salivating being in the room with Van Gogh, Cézanne, Gauguin, Seurat, Monet and Pissarro all at the one time! The V&A was also worth a look but leave 3-4 hours. The big daddy of them all was the British Museum. If you want to see the ancient world don’t bother going to Egypt, Greece, Rome, or anywhere else for that matter, just rock up to the BM..It just proves the poms where brilliant grave robbers and/or watch too many Indiana Jones movies.
However we did see the Elgin Marbles and
Big Ben
Big Ben they are presented spectacularly.....For me I’d leave them in England where more people would see them and they do hold centre stage along with the Pharoah Ramesses in the BM..........the best museum I have seen of the ancient world so far!
So we have done the museums.... we then went to Harrods and saw a Valentino snake skin bag for 5000GBP ($10,000 or there abouts) Andrew liked the Ferrari 12500GBP watch (my 14yo still has a Ferrari fetish..you would of thought he would of moved on to living things by now!) The food hall is nice if you want a $25 Sandwich, I think its the place to be seen as you couldnet get a seat anywhere. We signed Princes Di and Dodi's Book and by then we were absolutely stuffed (and that was just finishing up in the Harrods food hall) went to dinner and hit the laundry......thank god for the laundry being next to the Bar at the Lodge, gotta franchise the concept.....my gift to the species from Mars and to housewives!! Saw the filming of a commercial or something with an MJ dance routine looking thingy with about 100 dances in the middle of London...that was
Picadilly Circus
Take a close look! cool!
Anyway we hit day 4 with more sightseeing and trying to book my travels for the 2nd month...Decided to be in Berlin on Xmas day.
BTW London has 43 Theatres if you can’t see it, it has been produced yet! and is the city of statues, which bring me to my University bound (Teaching no less) princesses 2nd clanger of the tour, after the ‘who is Bruce Lee episode’ she drops ‘who was Winston Churchill?’. OK she didn’t do history at School...so we will let that one go through to the keeper.
Biggest crises on this adventure tour so far.....princess didn’t bring her hair straightener!. You know what its like having a teenager with 3 ‘bad hair’ days in a row! Always managing to pull a rabbit of a hat.....I found one in Greenwich on the way home from the National Observatory, don’t ask me what side of the Meridian we were in! Karma was restored.
Anyway having a ball, Megs I read your having a good time in the US of A also and Lou sweetie are you all pumped up and wherever this blogs finds you stay safe in Central America and say
TV Shoot
Check the guber at the back in Red!!!! hi to Fidel for me...Adam e-mail when you hit the UK to see where I’ll be (LAMS doing the world folks) and Rob if the Chinese government will release you before I leave the continent send me an e-mail (btw I notice china has opened up FB again welcome back)...the rest of you get back to work and have a nice xmas! ...We’re of to another castle.... Oh dear!

Tourists, Adventure Seekers!
Sydney, Australia
Ps Rocked up to Edinburgh and it is a beautiful city it’s a funny, weird and has a ridiculous flavour to it. Funny, the first bus we saw was going to 'Wally ford' go figure!, Weird the Palace home of Mary Queen of Scots was called Holyroodhouse and the ridiculous young guys at night wearing kilts in the city and it was only 5 degrees and they have an iceskating ring right in th epark on the main road. OK this city is going to be fun!
Pss I read in the paper over here about the 2 having a jiggy in the watch tower at Broadway in full view.....now that is really cool, ballsey but cool!!!!
