back in london

have just arrived here in london from scotland.edinburgh was great fun. a really nice city - very easy to live in i imagine. i stayed with a few friends, who i'd met along the way - nice to be part of a house again. i'm staying with a friend here in london too. gotta love making contacts in foreign places!!! not that london is exactly foreign now. now, back to edinburgh. i only really had two full days there - but i managed to do all that i wanted to in that time. the first day - wednesday, (after talking to the family about chloe) i went to the castle. it was pretty cool. a bit boy-ish though. lots of war stuff so not really my scene. still good to go to. then i was a proper tourist and did a bus tour of the city. it was actually really informative and good. you're meant to hop on and off but i just did the whole circuit in one. thursday was also pretty full. i did a tour that everyone had told me i had to do and it was great. it was the real mary king's close tour and it explored the underground city of edinburgh. yes - there's a whole 'nother part to edinburgh down there. they had the oringinal city, and then decided to make a whole new one directly on top and start again. there's only a small area that's left now as the rest has either been demolished or filled in but the tour went through houses and streets that people used to live in - and now it's all underground!! very bizarre. i also did my token bit of exercise by walking up arthur's seat!! yay me!! it's a pretty big hill on the edge of town - right next to where i was staying - with great views of the city. last night we had great fun at bandeoke. i didn't make up that word - but someone else did. it's karaoke (in a pub) but you sing with a band. it was really good actually. my friend was going to sing but they only did for an hour or two and there were too many people so he missed out 😞
