Santa Claus?Santa Claus?Santa Claus?

A busker in Covent Garden adds to the festive atmosphere.
It is day 300 of our trip and we are relaxing in London for the holiday. After a month in Turkey we thought a city Christmas would be a perfect interlude before moving on to Morocco, though little did we know that the city we selected completely shuts down for the holiday. Starting late afternoon on Christmas Eve and extending through Boxing Day, the day after Christmas, virtually nothing in London is open for business (including buses, rail, subway, movie theaters and restaurants). Not quite the city Christmas we had in mind. In Washington last year we saw two movies, ate at our favorite Chinese restaurant, went to a concert, and pigged out at 7-11 for a late night meal. We expected to be able to do the same here but it is 7pm as we post this and we have not even left our hotel room.

We hope the holiday and the start of a new year finds you well.

This particular donut, a mince meat filled festive delight, was a nice addition to our holiday dozen.

Sorry that we missed you!
Roger and Amy: We hope you made it to Morrocco safely. Sorry that it didn't work out for you two to join us in Ireland, but we look forward to seeing you in AZ sometime in 2007!
