London to Weymouth, Dorset, UK: 138.7 miles one way 30 April-1 May 2011

On this bank holiday weekend, we decided to ride to the seaside town of Weymouth, just to see what it's like.
We left Peckham on Saturday morning in nice weather. No incident on the journey, with a stop on the motorway for breakfast (as usually).

Shortly before arriving in Weymouth, we spotted the famous Dorset landmark of the White Horse on the hills of Osmington.
In Weymouth we found a guest house near the harbour called Whadham House that was comfortable and quiet. After changing clothes, we set out to visit the waterfront of Weymouth. We walked along the busy beach and finished the afternoon with a drink by the harbour. For diner we had a lovely meal at Mallams (highly recommended).

On the Sunday after breakfast at the B&B and check out, we spent the morning in Portland; panoramic views of Chesil Beach; the lighthouse and the Jurassic Coast. Then we headed back home. The journey was quite difficult because of stong winds on the motorway.

De London a Weymouth, Dorset, RU: 221.4 km a l'aller, 30 avril-1 mai 2011

En ce weekend ferie, nous avons decide d'aller a Weymouth juste pour voir de quoi ca a l'air.
Nous sommes partis de Pekcham le samedi matin par beau temps. Le voyage s'est passe sans incident, avec un arret petit-dejeuner sur l'autoroute (comme a l'accoutume).

Un peu avant d'arriver a Weymouth, nous apercevons le fameux Cheval Blanc sur les collines de Osmington.
A Weymouth nous trouvons une chambre d'hote pres du port - Whadham House - confortable et calme. Apres s'etre changes, nous sommes partis visiter a pied le bord the mer de Weymouth. Nous avons marche le long de la plage animee et avons fini l'apres midi a prendre un verre sur le port. Au soir nous avons dine dans un tres bon restaurant: Mallams.

Le lendemain dimanche apres le petit-dejeuner et avoir libere la chambre, nous avons passe la matinee a Portland: vues panoramiques de la plage de Chesil; le phare et la cote jurassique. Puis nous avons repris la route du retour. Le trajet fut quelque peu penible du aux vents forts sur l'autoroute.
