Mum (Bev Reilly), came over to visit (whilst on a work trip), and stayed with us for 2 1/2 weeks. It was great to see her and spend some time with her, we both loved having her, but would love to see Dad here next time too. We were a little spoilt while she was here, feasting on pre dinner drinks and nibblies, having dinner ready for us after work, drinking copious amounts of wine.....not to mention the care package she bought with her for us. Mum and I went on a little mother and daughter road trip for a few days and Justin met up with us in Bath for a weekend.
Wednesday 26th October 2005 Mum and I decided to hire a car and go on a mid week adventure. We successfully navigated and negotiated our way out of London without too many troubles. We stopped for a pub lunch in Andover on our way to West Dorset. It was so nice to be out of London, somewhere where you could actually take your fill of oxygen. We drove to the coast for a quick glimpse before arriving at our wonderful B&B. This was a beautiful 400 year
old house in West Dorset, about 15mins drive from the coast. It is owned and run by Chris and Jo a lovely couple who are extremely passionate about what they do. Why were we there and what do they do you may ask…well they run a llama trekking business. Mum and I were going llama trekking!!
We were forced to pamper ourselves at dinner as the only place that was serving dinner that night was a very English (men in tweed coats) fancy and expensive hotel. We had wine in the sitting room before being lead into the dinning room for our steak and fish, followed by cheesecake, ice cream, tea, coffee, biscuits and truffles.
Thursday 27th October In the morning we all rose for a wonderful breakfast, and took a stroll around their fantastic lake. It has a small cabin, a row boat and an island. We then helped round up the 16 llamas and alpacas and discovered how gentle they really are. We got our own llamas for the day mine was called Polka and Mums Cusco. We brushed them, loaded them into the float and drove to a national park/reserve. This is where our trek began,
we left at about 10:30 and got back about 3:30, we had a lovely picnic lunch and saw some of the beautiful countryside.
For dinner we went out with Chris and Jo to a Thai restaurant and stayed another night with them at their B&B.
Friday 28th October We left Chris and Jo and headed to the coast to Weymyth where we had tapas by the sea. Weymyth is where the white stone that St Pauls Cathederal is made of is from. The coast line is wild and did not look inviting. We continued onto Bath and eventually found accommodation in a B&B with a very quirky lady from Cyprus, who did not hold anything back. All I'll say is that I’m glad we got on her good side and were Australian.
Saturday 29th October We walked into town and explored Bath in the morning. Mum went into the Jane Austin centre while I did some op shopping. Justin arrived by train at 12:30pm and we all went for lunch at a vegetarian pub. Mum and Justin then did the tour of the Roman Baths, while I shopped some more. We had coffees at a fantastic chocolate shop
and walked up the hill back to our B&B.
Sunday 30th October We were up in time for a service at the amazing Bath Abbey, after which we piled into the car in search of Stone Henge. We came accross Stone Henge in the middle of nowhere right next to a busy road. We joined everyone else to stare in amazement at an extremely ancient pile of rocks. It was great.
Sailsbury was the next stop to see the GINORMOUS cathedral which Mum tells me features in the book Sarum. It was then unfortunately time for our little adventure to come to an end so we headed back to London.
It was great to have a touch of home with us for 2-3 weeks....so anyone else who is thinking of coming over......MAKE IT HAPPEN, we would love to see all of you!

Oh I see, you want Dad to visit, but you don't want your favourite brother to drop over! That's OK, i understand.
