Day 1

Long 6 hour train journey from London. First 2hr 20mins to Preston (220 miles) - nice air con train enjoying the world whizzing past. Last 2 hrs 40 mins to St Bees (110miles) - packed train from the 80’s which was 32.8deg C (yes, Ellis had his thermometer with him); a lot of sweating…..

Got to St Bees, checked into The Manor B&B and then headed straight for the beach for a paddle in the Irish Sea. An extra 2.5 miles just for the fun of it!,

Back the The Manor for steak and ale pies and then an early night……….
