We spent a wonderful day as a family in Polperro, Cornwall.Over Easter my family and I spent four days in wonderful
Cornwall. The whole family, which includes my husband, our two 6-year-old children and me, had a blast in Polperro. There's something for everyone, every age and every type of traveller.
When you arrive in Polperro, it's almost like stepping back in time.. in the best possible way! Polperro is an old fishing village on the Cornish south coast and only a few miles from the larger town of Looe.
The centre of the village feels unspoilt and authentic, full of beautiful cottages around a small harbor, a couple of local’s pubs and holiday cottages, a pasty shop, a small museum, steps down to a beach only accessible when the tide is out and even an amazing Shell House, a house decorated from top to bottom with shells in beautiful patterns.. nothing to suggest that this is place caters well for droves of visitors and tourists. But it does!

We spent a wonderful day as a family in Polperro, Cornwall. small fishing village, you find a long street with shops and restaurants side by side. Wonderful eateries, all famous for serving only the best sea food caught by local fishermen, that cater for all tastes and budgets, fantastic shell shops, cafes, clothes shops and much more.
Polperro harbor and adjacent beach is next to the Willy Wilcox Cave, believed to have been used by smugglers in the 18th century. Willy Wilcox was a fisherman who was trapped in the cave while trying to keep safe the smuggled contraband. It is said that there is still a secret passage leading from the cave to a cottage on the other side. You can go on fishing trips and mini cruises from the harbor where and when the tide is out you can explore the beach, the cliffs and the rock pools.

We spent a wonderful day as a family in Polperro, Cornwall. pay-and-display car park at the top of the mile long restaurant- and shopping street. For those who can’t walk very well, a little trams goes about every 10 minutes from the car park to the harbor.
Polperro has everything you could possibly want when you come from out of town and you hope to experience a bit of the authentic local area as well as that great atmosphere only being on holiday and surrounded by fellow travelers can give you.. oh, and it has some of the most wonderful seagulls I’ve ever experienced in Cornwall, they’re almost tame and only too happy to pose and let your get right up close with your camera.
