Day 8: Sat, May 5th

Today we left Scotland 😞. We flew Easyjet from Inverness to Luton (north of London). Today we set aside to visit our friends in Mildenhall. We hadn’t seen them in a few years, so we really wanted to stop by and catch up with them.

When we got to Luton, we picked up another rental car. This time we got a Vauxhall Vectra, which is bigger than we wanted. But it had navigation, so that sort of helped. From Luton we drove back towards the East Anglia area. There isn’t much in the Mildenhall area as far as sight-seeing, but we did stop very quickly in Bury St. Edmunds. There is a ruined abbey there, and it’s also where The Magna Carta was signed. It seemed like a nice town, but we didn’t spend very much time there. We then headed over to Mildenhall to see our friends, Tom and Tonia. Tim first met Tom when he was stationed in Mildenhall from 98-2000. Then Tom also went to Edwards (California) when Tim went to Edwards. Tom and Tonia have a little boy named Keegan, who was born while they were in California. He’s almost

4 now, wow I remember him as a baby.

We hung out at their place, had dinner and caught up. Later Tonia took us for a ride around the base, and Tim pointed out where he lived and worked to me. For the most part, it looked just like every other base I’ve seen, with dorms, and commissaries. Tom now collects Mini’s, so he had a row of them in his driveway. It was great to see them and get a chance to hang out. They were also nice enough to let us stay at their place tonight.
