Teething problems over and we're finally logged in and ready to start our Blog. Forty Six days to go! Just incase we need to remind ourselves how long left at any point, its this long:

So, we are really going to do this - tickets booked and on their way, backpacks being looked at, shoes being researched and accomodation being booked. Albeit slowly. It all seems a little rushed to be planning so much with so little time to get it all arranged but both of us agree that is probably a good thing. I certainly cant imagine how people planned trips before the internet arrived. I guess we are lucky to have that advantage both for the pre-trip research, and the opportunity to log our feelings, thoughts and experiences as we move from place to place.

We leave Heathrow on March 18. Firstly we head out to Thailand - probably basing ourselves in Krabi and Phi-Phi for the majority of the time, taking in day trips to as many of the more remote Islands as we can. After a quick two night stop in Bangkok, it's onto China and a six day stay in Beijing. Possibly two of those days being taken up by Xian. Then off to Sydney and ten days to somehow get to Brisbane. No planning for this yet! Flying from Brisbane to Adelaide and have budgeted another ten days until we leave Melbourne for the relatively long-stay three weeks in New Zealand. Well done Clare for your research on this! Next on the list is Chile where we have two and a half days in Santiago before flying up to Lima, then straight through to Cusco. After a couple of days acclimatisation to the high altitude, we start the four day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. On our much anticipated arrival into Brazil, we intend on having four days in Rio before finally heading back home on June 4th. So, it should look something like this: http://www.travelblog.org/gmaps/map_33Q.html

So much to see and so little time! The research is endless. Just when you think you have got somewhere you realise you still have another six countries to go! Thailand is almost sorted. Nine days laying on the beach. Its going to be such hard work...;-) Somewhere we will definitely make a visit to is Maya Bay, which is where the film The Beach was filmed. It looks absolutely stunning in the pictures so you can only hope it is even more amazing being there in the flesh.

The one place that we are totally organised for is Peru. The hostel is booked, Hospjarde Rusa Comanud Spketisjck or something. Don't even ask us to pronounce it, but at a grand price of £6 a night who cares! The Inca Trail is paid for, and greatly anticipated. It should be the hardest, but BEST thing we ever do.

So thats two countries down...
