The Church
L'Eglise du Cloitre (Ceremony conducted in both French for Juliane and German for Ueli) Today is why we are in Switzerland. The wedding of the century. Like a fairy tale. Friends and family from the four corners of Earth. After rain all the way from Denmark over the past week 7/7/7 turns on a sensational day - good enough to go paragliding - like some locals did. For me there was an unforgettable event unfolding. The activities in the castle were amazingly well organised. Juliane and Ueli had activities set up for each area of the castle with the guests moving from room to room to try their hands at different tasks. Great fun - and so ingenious. Even the menu for the evening (all 6 courses) were specifically chosen by Juliane who astutely avoided the caterer's urging to provide standard meals. Each was a dish of local produce and significance. These were Serac grille, magret fume concasse a la provencale, then creme de petits pois parfumee a la menthe (sensational), followed by Caille farcie aux tresors des bois risotto citronne et legumes, then Tomme vaudoise en habit rouge, variation de bricelets, glace au vin cuit, compotee de poires, and finally (if one had any space left) Clos du Paradis et Feu d'amour. Juliane and Jo walked back down the hill from the castle we glowed from the fullness of the day - a perfect end to a perfect occasion.
