Metro-Escalators
this is one of the shorter ones, but up to now i didn't dare to take too many pictures in the metro, because I was told that militzija doesn't like it and as long as I am not legally registered in Moscow I better not screw with them... ;o) Hi There again...
How to tell in brief all the things I have experienced, seen and learned already in the first days...
Generally speaking, Russians are quiete nice people, as long as you can either speak Russian, were introduced to the person ... foreigners in the street are not that friendly... they are muttering and unfriendly... to say sorry for stepping on somebody's foot... why???
During Rushour Metro is so packed with people, that everybody bumps into everybody... sometimes I feel like a cow in a herd, drove to somewhere. Metro doors open hundrets of people surge out of it, either to the exit, or through up and down leading floors to the next platform to be pressen back into another Metro and stand on other people's feet until they reach their final destination... cosy ;o)
The Metro is mainly deep under the earth and the escalators are dubble as fast than in Germany...
1. because otherwise the huge amount of people couldn't be managed and the whole tunnel system would fill up with people...
2. because it wuold take ages to get down to the platform...
To comute 1 to 2 hours ios totally normal for
The red square (1) ...
This is actually a Museum, but I forgot which one... as soon as I find out I'll edit this information ;o) Russians! Moscow is huge and many people live in the subburbs and have to take a train before they reach the metro area...
Moscow itself is quite impressing! Up to now I have been to the red square and it looks great!!! Those colours!!! While the biggest part of the city is painted in a sad grey in grey the official buildings and the churches are painted most colourfull!!! Dark red, light blue, orange, turquoise and green and other colours you can find in a box of paints... on top of all this the golden, silver and blue domes of the churches and those of the famous cathedral at the red square even with stripes in several colours...
The fact that everything is covered with snow makes the picture even more pretty, because the bright colours build a great contrast to the white grounds ...
not thinking about the streets, covered in dirty, snowy mud this white blanket covering everything is quite beautiful!!! And when new snow has fallen, everything is glittering, like this artificial glitter, you can find on flowers and other things... that looks really great!!! BUt I can totally understand, that soldiers fighting in Russia
The red square (2) ...
My buddy Lesha and me in front of the cathedral at the red square got blinded by it!!! It iritates the eyes a lot!!!
The first days I mainly moved in company of Lesha because he knew the right way through this chaos of snow and mud and metro tunnels... but by now I am getting along quite good by myself!!! Finally becomming independent again!!! even though with a mobil-nr as backup in my pocket at any time... ;o)
In Russia it's a law, that everything has to be written in kyrillan letters... therefore many things are not written in latin letters, which makes orientation a bit difficult...
Metro signs are only in kyrillan and when you finally see the english written ones in the metro train, it might be already too late, because you are already pressed in a train to the wrong direction... ;o)
In the last days, I rode the metro on my own AND changed plattforms without getting lost!!! I went to the first SUpermarket on my own and I found everything I was looking for!! Eventhough it took me hours...
and I finally don't feel like a stupid lemming anymore... just running after the leading person without an idea, where we are going to and how
The red square (3) ...
Now from another perspective... this is the backside of the previous mentioned museum and the picture is taken from the roof of "Ochodnj Rijad", a shopping mall near the red square to get there...
Up to now, there is not much to tell from my job... I just started and the last days I spent reading through info material about the company and got to know several persons... ;o)
OK... I think that's enough for now!!!
We are going to celebrate the glorious vindication of Russia (against the Germans and other invaders)
:-S hmmm, well... I never celebrated that!!
greetings and kisses,
Antje

Halloele...
And Moscow is covered in snow ...
... this is supposed to be a fountain, with figures of fairy tales in it... but right now the fisherman and the golden fish (Der Fischer und seine Frau) are halfe hidden in the snow... dicht gedraengt und auf anderer Leute Fuesse stehend zur Zielhaltestelle zu gelangen... Kuschelig ;o)
... and it doesn't seem to change soon...
and even the "Frog King" has to struggle to not drown in the snow... wenn man mal von den Strassen absieht, die in 10cm hohem Schneematsch versinken, dann hat diese weisse Decke doch etwas sehr schoenes an sich!
... but it looks nice!
The colours look even more pretty next the the white snow!!! ein Lemming, der stumpf hinterher rennt egal wohin!!
:-S hmmm, naja... auch mal was neues!!
Gruss und Kuss,
Antje
