Me and Daddy after returning from Dracula
and going up and down 1480 steps. Good thing for automatic photos as we were the only ones who went up that day. We went to a hotel. We went up more than a thousand steps to go to Dracula's real castle. I was a little scared. Vlad Tepes is not Dracula. He does not bite people on the neck. He is a hero in Romania because he saw mean people and put a stake up their butt. - Sofia
After 2 really fun days in Sibiu it was time to go see Dracula's Real Castle. By this time in the trip I really began to understand that difference between Dracula and Vlad Tepes. I learned that Dracula from the movie (book) was a vampire who sucked blood and was not real. However, he was based on Vlad Tepes whose father was nick named Dracul and he had the nick name of Draculea. Daddy told me that he learned that while Vlad Tepes did some really bad things to people, he was often considered a Hero in Romania because he did those bad things to bad people. I was soon to see.
We had a short stop at a beuatiful monastery on the way to our next stop. There was a very nice guy who worked there who gave me a lot
of little gifts and played some music for us. He was really nice. I was a very sad and a little scared when I saw a little boy and his mother begging my daddy for money for food. After we drove off, daddy explained some things to me, and I felt very lucky to have what I have.
Daddy's car map thing made daddy take a road we should not have (or at least that it what he said) and we soon found ourselves on a dirt road "in the middle of nowhere" He decided at some point to turn around. The vocabulary word of the day was "recalculating". I started saying "recalculating" and then laughing. I did not care too much since I had movies and games on my ipod. We arrived at our hotel , you guessed it, Dracula's Hotel, in the small town of Capatanenii, North of Curtea De Arges and only minutes away from the base of the mountain where Draculas "real" castle, Poienari Citadel, was. We could actually see it from our hotel up in the mountain. So after checking in, we were off.
There was no one at the base of the
mountain which lead to castle. Gift shop was closed, but the paths to the steps were open. There were 3 dogs that hung around us. Daddy had stressed that I was not to go near any stray dog, so he held me when they got closer than he liked. They did not harm us and one especially like us and followed us up most of the way.

There were
1480 steps!!!!! Daddy was hoping that I would climb most by myself and was amazed that I made it all the way up without him carrying me at all. We were both proud of me. After about 30 minutes or so we started to have a view of the castle which made it much easier. When we got up to to the top, the person at the gate told us that we were the only tourists that came up that day. My daddy thought how this guy had to make that climb up and down each day to get to work. He was really nice.
At the front of the castle, there was 2 people with sticks up there butt and blood going down. At first I was
a little scared, but then daddy explained things to me, so I was fine. I ended up taking pictures of him by them and he took pics of me. We then went up. It was a little icy in the castle and I banged up my knee a bit but was fine. It was VERY windy on the top as we were on the top of the mountain. AFter about 1 hour hanging out at the castle all by ourselves, we made our way down. It was much faster going down and I once again made it all by myself. It was a really good day.

After taking some pics at the entrance, a shower, we had a dinner at the hotel. Daddy and I watched a movie and then went to sleep. Our last full day in Romania was tomorrow, and we were to head back to Bucharest to see a little of the city.
