Hey all, So, we wrote a blog earlier to catch everyone up on our travels but as soon as we pushed published, for some reason, all was lost. That was back on the 3rd. So now begins the somewhat painful task of catching up since before that. Jan and I have agreed that we would do best just to summarize: (July 30, 31, 1) Malaga: Shit Hole. (August 2, 3) Seville: Great City. (August 4) Night Train from Seville, Spain to Lisbon, Portugal (August 5, 6) Lisbon: FANTASTIC CITY. Great two days. So it was time for another easyjet flight, although this time we didn't have to go through stansted. We flew from Madrid to Lisbon and were suprised that we had to change our clocks when we landed. The heat continued, we picked up our rental car and only realised it had airconditioning 2 hours into our trip to porto and after acquiring a 50 euro fine for Greg failing to pick up the toll ticket when we left lisbon (give me a break I was still adapting to driving on the wrong side of the road). Still it was awesome to enjoy the freedom of the open road and our new itrip was put to good use (thanks Gra and Aileen ; ), So we made it to porto and managed to navigate the one way ... read more

Well it's good bye to my favorite place in Europe, Ericeira. What makes this place my favorite well it's the surf, sun and most of all the people. Northern Portugal is fortunately for the locals but unfortunately for the economy a little forgotten gem in Europe. It has some of the best coast line, few tourists (or at least less) and generally has only the committed tourists rather than the package types. Debs checked into surf school in Ribeira d'llhas.. (see or if you don't speak Portuguese, ) and we met the coolest people from Joy her teacher to Dan, Eduardo and the Spanish crew fellow students, Alex (German), Lars and Nina, Ryan and many others. Mike, Kaz, Nic and I decide to take a camping trip around Portugal!! Fly into Porto, pick up a rental and head to our first nights destination. Extremely hot so the cold beer is very welcomed. Next day we tour Porto sightseeing along the river and head to a port tasting factory very interesting, some botlles of port date to 1851 for a mere 3500 euros!! Next destination Evira and Coimbra have lunch and a wander - bloody hot! Drive the scenic route to Tomar, set up camp have dinner and beers and a swim thank god. Up early pack up and off to Evora for lunch and wander cool little place with tiny streets. Carry on back in the car and off to Avira, awesome spot with lakes and wicked scenery.
