After visiting Sintra and the coast, we went to the beach near our house but we did not stay long because it was much more windy than in Algarve. So we relaxed there for a while, read a bit and then came back home to prepare before going out in Lisbon. We were indeed meeting a friend from Düsseldorf and a couchsurfer from Lisbon for dinner and then going for a drink. Our friend from Düsseldorg had been the day before to a nice, very little and cheap restaurant, where there were serving fish 😊 So we went there all together and it was really good.
Afterwards, we went for a walk in the city center. We tasted a local alcohol called "Ginjinha" (or cherry-cherry for Lidia 😉 ), it is made out of infusing sour cherry. It is quite strong but taste nice. Then, we went to Bairro Alto where there are a lot of bars. As usual, we drank some nice coktails like Caipirinha (our fan of coktails Anastasiia loved it 😉).
The last day in Lisbon was spent walking in the city to enjoy and visit more of it. Thanks to our host in Faro, we
knew what to visit and where to go, so we followed his tour and visited for the day. At first, I have to say that I was not as impressed as I thought I would be by this city. However, after some time walking there and especially after visiting the Alfama district, I loved the city more than before. This district is in fact the only district which was not completely destroyed by the earthquake, which occured in Lisbon in 1755. The old building there were really nice.
The things that I like the most in Lisbon were the street art painting on the building walls which were nice and were showing as well what were the people thoughts (political comments for instance) and the ups and downs which enable you to see the city from above a lot. Ok, I have to say that at some points walking it was tough but it really makes the city special.
And one thing I would remember from this trip is my meeting with Emanuel -the couchsurfer we went to dinner with on the 2nd day). This guy really gave us so much insights about the life in Lisbon and
in Portugal in general and shared with us his love for this city. We met him on our 3rd day in Lisbon again for dinner and for drinks as the day before.
To finish the day after a good dinner, we went to a bar that I really loved for the atmosphere inside: each room was indeed different and represented a room in a real home: you would be in the living room, then in the reading room, ... It really felt cosy and unusual.
The last day in Lisbon was short since we had our bus back to Faro at 3pm. So the girls were to see Cristo Rei statue and after we had lunch with our hosts and family. This lunch was the best one of our trip in Portugal. We had fresh grilled fish! 4 different kind of fishes were served to us and you would put your fish on a slice of bread so that the cooking oil would give flavour to the bread that you could eat afterwards!!I have to say that just writing this reminded me how good this was and I feel hungry 😉
After lunch, we took our bus
to Faro and there I went to a motobikers festival with our host from the beginning of the week. This festival was a real adventure for me but it was a really funny evening which ended my 1 week trip very well!!
