We found that there were 2 types of beef served. One was served with the bread soup and the other was cooked with wine and spices and served after the soup. Both were very tasty and enjoyed by all.

Spending time visiting with Tiago

We had a great time visiting with Tiago (in the grey) and his brother after the dancing was over at the festival. Tiago definitely made us feel very welcome at the marina and we wish him the very best. We always enjoyed our visits with him and hope to stay in touch! Teasingly we agreed that we had to put in this photo of Tiago and his “smarter, younger brother”.

On Sunday night the entertainment at the festival was watching and listening to two Folklore groups sing and dance to traditional music. It reminds us quite a bit to American square dancing. Jose who we had met before was one of the musicians that is part of the group.

We have enjoyed getting a chance to know Jeannette and Mike from Dutch Link. We have gotten lots of great tips from them as well on various hikes they have done and talking about places to cruise. Thanks for all the help that you provided as well as the lovely dinner at your place!

A map of Flores to give you an idea of where we have been. The marina we are in is in the southeast corner in Lajes. On our drive we made it to Ponta Delgrada in the north, just north of Faja Grande on the west, across the middle to the Caldera and Santa Cruz and hiked to Faja Lopo Vaz in the south.

Where are we headed next? On July 16th we leave Flores & head to Faial. We hope to visit all of the islands that are labelled on this map if time permits.
