modelled on the Empire State - he never lived to see it complete
in Berlin - but wasting time - almost 4pm (instead of being in museums - or getting lost on ze S undt U-bahn) uploading some snappies - for Warsawa (you can see I was somewhat taken with the war memorial bronze statues) I am starting to get confused as to what country/city I am in already, mostly when I am telling people about places a week ago - where was that again??! I will likely go on a 6 hour guided walking tour tomorrow for the essential Berlin - it is only 10 Euro so sounds a bargain relatively.

With my meal last night at least I had a free glass of wine (courtesy of hostel coupon) - but I will have to go all AA Gill (not Milne) here and report, quite negatively for the first time - cream of chanterelle soup - certainly creamy and did have real live chanterelles in it - but the salt! (chefs who cant control their salt addition to soups are a fave hate of mine)- I lost appetite for it half way thru and ate all the chanterelle bits (and they at least gave me 25% off the soup because of my

comment). But the veal Viennese style with creamy mushroom sauce - alwasy a tip if the huge lettuce leaves creation are hiding the fact that there are only about 7 smalls chunks of veal in there under all those mushrooms and lettuce. The waitress actually said why are you not ordering anything else - well dahlink the food was not very good so why give you more money! The menu was limited and I will certainly not be back! The only good thing was it (Fabisch) was diagonally across the road from the hotel. This is a relatively Bohemian quarter and there are a few cheap restaurants around - like Thai and even a cheap sushi place - so not sure how adventurous I will be here - need to change my Lithuanian money now and decide how much i need to get out of the place.

The final snap is a reality check - staying in a 3 bed room is OK if the company is right (in this case) - shame I will have to likely get reacquainted tomorrow night and move to another room - 4 bedder? with some other folks.... Life in the cheap lane
