hmmmm....
spent this past weekend in freezing, touristic Krakow. it is a beautiful city, with many old buildings, but its just foreigners central, with only about 20% actually being poles living there. it was good, as it was the first time we heard english in a month, and we could actually talk to people other than ourselves, but im glad im living in a remote village, as it really is experiencing living in a different world when no-one can understand you. wierd thing though, is even on our tour bus in krakow, with everyone speaking english, everytime i heard english, i still got excited, yet if i bumped into someone, or wanted to say something, i'd say it in polish instead of english.its a weird feeling.
so, we took a 7 hour train trip to krakow, where we were met by the other australian gappers living there. we stayed at their placement which was another boarding school for the visually impaired. by going there, we realised how lucky they are...they have a private bathroom in the comfort of their room, when we have to walk 5 minutes to get to our 'private' shower, and our toilets, shared toilet block, have no locks
you know it...you know it...you know it...

we just had to get a photo with him
on the doors!
we spent the first day in krakow doing touristy thing like going to the markets, and taking lots of photos. highlight was a english guy running around the old town square in nothing but fluro green speedos, so naturally, we chased after him for a photo with him.a nun walked past us shaking her head and fist....it was priceless!!
we then met up with a 'polish friend, who was gay, and him and his boyfriend took us to a bar/disco, which also ended up being a gay bar. it didnt even click though with shirtless boys dancing around a pole together, that it was a gay bar, until as we were leaving and saw naked men statues on every table, we asked ourselves....'is this a gay bar'.we felt stupid! 😊 but we'll blame that to the half litre servings of beer we were served all night....
saturday we took a tour to Auschwitz! it was the most over whelming horrific experience and place i have ever been to. to just be standing in a room where millions had their lives taken from them, was such a surreal feeling that i wish never to feel again. the gas

chambers were the hardest part to enter, and it was complete silence the whole time. we also went to Birkenau, or Auschwitz 2 as it was also named. it was more of what i had expected the concentration camps to be like, once again, horrific.

i must hurry, coz im out of time....i'll say more soon.
