Feat number 1 - get me and my backpack up there without doing a faceplant or tipping backwards. Hi all,
So I made it safely to Holland yesterday. I arrived at Schiphol Airport (pronounced Skip-ole) around 11:30am and had to take a train over to The Hague to meet my friend Lisa B. to grab her key. I successfully got myself on the train, but missed the connection (LOL) - even though everyone here speaks English, Dutch is the main language and I didn't realize that I had to stop and technically transfer to another train... oops! So I headed over to Den Haag HS and was able to find my way back to the right station Den Haag Centraal. Phew! Found Lisa and this is what I saw when I opened the door to her apartment. Lisa had warned me that her stairs were steep but I certainly didn't expect that, they were extremely narrow but I got myself and my luggage up there.
I rested up a bit and then met Lisa and her friends in Amsterdam. I took the train with her friend Gayle and we went to a soccer or really a football game. It was a crisp, chilly evening about 0 degrees Celcius, about freezing temp. 😊 It was the US vs.

What? There's more! There is another floor as well. Oy! Holland, one of Lisa's friend's works for KPMG (Maureen - I asked if he knew Brad but I think they are all international spies) Martjin, was able to get us tickets and we had great seats, but we Americans were certainly outnumbered - we were enveloped in a sea of orange. It was great for us Tang Kickball peeps as I felt "home" ha! It was a fun time and though we lost 2-1, I can mark on my experience that I went to a true football game.
My sound peeps would be disappointed because I failed to bring my recorder! Shame on me, there were some awesome crowd noises. Leilani fail!
Anyway, so far my European adventure is starting off well. Today I'll be walking around the Hague and heading to a few museums. I'll be taking pictures with my fancy camera of the city and seeing how lost I'll get.
Up next too is probably me riding a bike that's fit for very tall Dutch people.
Aloha!!
