VIVA LA AMSTERDAM!!!!! Well, what else can i say about this town (the longest stay of any city on my tour) except that i love it!!! i had a fucking blast!!!! Beautiful City, 10x more liberal than SF, Beautiful People, young vibe, amazing parties, cool museums, and the list goes on....where do i begin??...
Murda, Mo, and I rode the train in from Brussels (on Queen's day- the queen's birthday is a huge national holiday and party). The further and further we got in Holland, the more and more people with orange got on and the roudier our train got! By the time we got to Amsterdam at noon- the city was packed with people. Can you imagine Murda stressin about finding our hotel with our luggage among the hoards of people and partiers...."well, we picked a great day to come to Amsterdam," she kept bickering. Sure enough though, we got settled in our hotel, met up with my buddy Michael ( a friend of mine i met in chicago 3 years ago) and we hit the street scene. Each neighborhood had its own party with its own musical theme (the gay neighborhood had the best music and the most
people dancing....of course) and there were people selling all kinds of crap all over the place- i guess it's legal to sell items openly on queen's day without any regulation. We went from neighborhood to neighborhood, drinking beer and having a good time.
Then, Michael showed us his place (where i'd be staying the next week) as we awaited his husband Roman to get home from work. (Congratulations to Michael and Roman who were happily married in November!!!! Eventually, we will wise up in the states and start allowing gay marriage!!!) We went out to Roman's favorite restaurant for a fantastic dinner- which featured a couple bottles of wine i believe. Following dinner, Mo and I had to take Murda to a "coffee shop" to experience a little more of Amsterdam's culture!! The BlueBird coffee shop=oh how i will never forget this moment!!! Then, it was disco nap time before Michael, Roman, and I went to the kick-off party to the party weekend- "warehouse." I had a great time and got back to the hotel at 7 am i believe- just in time to walk mo and murda to the train station so they could catch their flight to
Amsterdam-Queens day partying
After Bluebird Coffee Shop trip-Mo and me in front of the train station london. This was a huge transition in Big P's european adventure as mo and Murda were leavin me and that chapter came to a bitter close. As i left them at the station to leave me, i couldn't hold back the tears from flowing as i walked back to the hotel to crash. We had such a good time, with so much planning and so much anticipation and i couldn't believe it was all over but the memories. I love you Mo and Boots!!!!
Anyways- it was time for the partying to begin- the next big party was friday night at a club in amsterdam- featuring an amazing DJ from Israel. I swore it was a woman- but i found out later it was a guy...whatever- he/she had amazing energy and played an amazing set. I can't really put into words how much fun these parties were- the energy, the beautiful men from all over the world i met, the friendships/relationships i established, and the dancing!!!! ahhh!!!!! Michael and Roman's after parties can't really be talked about on here- but let me just say that my hosts were amazing, accomodable to me and my needs, and a lot crazier
Amsterdam
Chillin by canal than i thought!!! ( i love you guys!)
The grand finale party- Rapido- came Sunday. After a boat ride around amsterdam on michael and Ro's boat, a quick pornstar workout- working all the necessary parts for having your shirt off all night, we were ready for action!!! Of course, the party lived up to the hype- with better music, a huge crowd featuring more beautiful men then i've ever been surrounded by, and an energy that lasted from 3 in the afternoon until 2 in the morning- and later if you went to the after party!!! A couple songs will always remind me of this week/weekend- "You got to show me love," "i'm coming out"(can you say disco cab ride?!!), and automatic by Ultra Nate. Our Rapido after party turned into a next-day boat party all around the city- can i just say i love "Xcited" (michael and roman's boat)- and all the fun we had in it. (Nils couldn't hang though as he got a little sick- Big up to Nils and Cesar!!!- my new friends from Germany).
Post partying- i needed a few days to stay around and recover, as well as see tourist-amsterdam and do
Amsterdam
Next to the church Anne Frank looked out at. all the things around the city that i wanted to do and see. The Anne Frank House was a cool experience and i'm really glad i did that. I'll never forget the way i felt when i left. At the very end of the tour through the house, they play a blurb from Otto Frank (Anne's father)- explaining the way he felt after reading Anne's diary. He talked about how he never saw any of these emotions or feelings in Anne (which he read about after he discovered Anne's fate) as they were going through their experience. This just goes to show- no matter how much we think we may know someone, or know our children- we really don't know them at all. I think this really expresses the individualism we all possess (no matter Jew, black, white, gay, whatever), and this feeling really struck a chord with me as far as my own relationship with my parents and family, etc.....so after this in order to unwind a bit, i decided to take a "magical trip" to the Van Gogh museum (after picking up some magical fungi in what's called a 'smart shop' in amsterdam). i highly recommend this if
Amsterdam-coffee shop
Michael and me in a coffee shop (smoking tobacco of course!) you're in amsterdam- as i spent over 5 hours in there lost in the paintings!!!
It came time to say goodbye to Michael and Roman and turn over a new leaf- as this next portion of my adventure (another transition) would be quite different- no more Murda and Mo- and now no more Michael and Roman ( i love you guys and i'm really glad we spent this time. Thank you for opening up not only your home to me, but your hearts. Know that you have a friend in me whenever you need me fellas!!!)...it's time for Big P to venture out all on his own!!!
