Edit Blog Post
Well it has been a while since our last blog...the laptop died and we believed it dead for a couple of weeks...and then miraculously it revived itself – hooray!! So we are now sitting at the airport in Munich waiting for our flight to Dubai and planning on doing a little bit of catch up! Okay, now that is explained, our apologies given and accepted, I will paste below a blog I wrote a couple of weeks ago and was not able to post...enjoy!
We arrived in Montenegro after a surprisingly good sleep on our overnight train from Belgrade. To be honest, after seeing the cabin I wasn’t really expecting to! But we had our pastries and chocolate to munch on and they provided blankets and pillows...plus, we managed to get a four person cabin to ourselves – so can’t complain really! We arrived into Bar early morning and although we were not planning on staying there we did want to check out Stari Bar (the old town) before we moved on as we had heard good things, so we popped our packs in storage at the bus station (yes, there is storage if anyone out there is wondering...it took
us a while to find it) and cabbed it out to Stari Bar. Stari Bar is over a thousand years old and the town itself is full of steep cobbled streets lined with cafes and shops which lead you to the ruin itself. I asked Ben for his input here, you know, so he would feel involved, to help me explain how impressive Stari Bar was. Ben’s response...wicked fort, surrounded by mountains. Full Stop. Done.
So moving on, we bussed it along the coast to Budva, and boy were we glad to see the ocean! First things first, on went the bathers and down to the beach! I was quite excited about tanning up and not glowing quite so corpse-like when I wore shorts! And then ... that is pretty much all we did here. Laid on the beach, occasionally turned over, ate some food, laid back down. Riveting stuff I know. Although, this is where Ben got sick. Sigh. It is now almost two weeks later while I am writing this, sitting in the Julian Alps in Slovenia enjoying the view, and he is still sick. So pretty much I have been exploring by myself except for the
few times Ben has felt well enough to join me! Poor bugger. But onwards and upwards! Due to needing to stay put for a bit longer than we planned we have had to change our itinerary and cut Bosnia (noooooooooo!), so from Budva we went further along the coast to Kotor before heading straight to Dubrovnik in Croatia.
I am so glad we went to Kotor!! The old town is a beautiful little walled town, pedestrian only, with mountains and a fort soaring behind it. And after Budva, where the people were a little less than helpful/friendly, we were welcomed with open arms into the apartment of a man in Kotor who bent over backwards to accommodate us and make us feel at home! The streets are all cobblestones and winding alleyways lined with hidden cafes, bars and shops, which suddenly burst into cafe-filled piazzas filled to the brim with people eating, drinking and making merry! It was beautiful and I would recommend a couple of nights here to anyone intending to go to Montenegro. There is a great walk up behind the old town as well which offers a fantastic viewpoint of the town...which you can see in
our photos!
That is about it for Montenegro. We boarded a bus here bound for Croatia and the beautiful city of Dubrovnik.
Adios amigos! Until next time...

PS It won't let me caption the panoramas at the top, so the one with the cruise ship is Kotor and the other beachy one is Budva 😊
