Well we have arrived in Malta, on descending down the impression wasn't that great reminded me of flying in Cairo Egypt, with the dryness, dust and white washed and cream buildings and on getting in the taxi, chaos!!! There seemed to be so much building and roadworks going on at present we seemed to go around in circles to get into town. We are staying in Gzira in a lovely little boutique hotel an... So excited to see your Malta blog!!!
Hi……so happy you both enjoyed Malta and reading your blog brought back so many wonderful memories for me. Your arrival feeling a bit like Cairo and the taxi chaos reminded me of exactly the same. When I was there in 1974, Carmen and I went for a walk on our first day after being at relatives for lunch and we absolutely freaked out as their houses didn’t have showers, baths, or washing machines simply to conserve water as it is so dry!! Everything was washed in the sink, I still remember the shear devastation that I couldn’t wash my hair in the shower for 3 months……But…..Once we got to our place we did have a shower as our house had just been built!! Must say your hotel and the roof top bar sounded wonderful. Some of my favourite spots were also Blue Grotto, Gogol, Medina and of course Mellieha where we lived. The city of Valletta is incredible and it amazed me when I went back with Graeme to learn how ignorant I was as a teenager to the hardship that the Maltese went through being bombarded from every angle from so many countries. Always love your blogs but this one was special for me xxxxxx
