Geo: 50.0751, 6.04568TIME: 13:35 HOURSLOCATION: Chateau Urspelt, Clevaux Luxembourg.Weather: Grey and drizzly......SUMMARY: After battling across Central Germany on "C" Roads following a 40km tail back on the Autobahn (A6) we were relieved to reach The Hotel Panorama in Heidelberg on Friday night. Overlooking the Rhine we were within 5 mins walk of the Old Town and Castle........as this was only a one night stop we just had time for dinner comprising tasty but rather anaemic looking sausages "bobbing" about in tepid water and Schnitzel. The next morning we made quick tour of the Old Town mainly involving Cathy visiting about 30 local shoe shops........Setting off at a "geriatric" 1100hrs we had a comparatively short drive (300km) to Luxembourg. After a week of dumplings, pork lardons and gherkins we were looking forward to the refined culinary d ... read more

The train ride was 9 hours long, but we got to see more of Italy, France and Switzerland. We changed trains in Basel, Switzerland and we were on our last leg. Our train arrived right on time and we spotted Serge and Chantal almost immediately. It was so great to see them again. I think I got 5 hugs from Serge before we left the platform! The train station is located in Luxembourg City and we got the nickle tour on the way to Serge's house in Stegen, about 20 minutes outside of the city. We spent the evening catching up on everyone and hearing about the plans Serge and Chantal had made for our visit. Then a light dinner and off to bed--about 11pm. Bright and early today we left for Brussels, Belgium to see ... read more

Wow, I've done soooo much the past few days so I'll try to not get too detailed. On Friday we had orientation in the morning and after lunch we got on a bus and visited two cemetaries from WWII, one American and one German one. Then we went to Luxembourg City and did a walking tour. It was an hour and a half long, so needless to say we were all freezing by the end. THe City is beautiful and I definitely want to go back so I can walk around on my own and go in the shops and everything. After the tour me and some girls caught a train back to Differdange. We almost missed the train, and then for about 15 minutes we were sitting in first class (we have a second class ... read more

Day 3 ends with us leaving Ciney (finally) and getting our first train of the trip. Really tired at this point as i didn't sleep the first night and the second night was spent in the car...on a main road. So all i remember looking back was it was a double decker train...my first one!!! I guess its like a normal train, but with another level. The journey to Luxembourg was short and pleasant and we decide to stay in a hostel (my first ever hostel) in Diekirch - part of the OLd Town of Luxembourg City. I think i was spoilt at this hostel as it was very clean and pleasant. We grabbed a 6bed dorm and went into town to what seemed like the ONLY bar in Luxembourg. As we were so shattered we ... read more
