Our first sight of Copenhagen proper Our trip began with an uneventful four hour flight to Chicago, followed by a 3.5 hour layover which was pretty boring except that we saw Matthew Lesko in the airport. You know the crazy guy with the question marks all over his suit and the thick glasses - who explains how to get free money from the government? (Apparently he has more time to travel now….)
Next we boarded the airbus for our 7 plus hour flight to Copenhagen which at first seemed like it was going to be really nice since we were seated right in front of the lavatory. Not so nice after a couple hundred people eat airplane beef stew. All in all it was a smooth flight, though.
Then we had 7 hours to kill in Copenhagen before leaving for Vilnius. We took a train from the airport to the downtown area and walked around like zombies; through a sea of tall blondes on bicycles, in and out of expensive little shops - what is up with the flower printed ‘Hammer Pants/Zubas’ for sale everywhere? - and then to an Italian Restaurant for lunch where the staff was pretty rude. Denis’ view: Copenhagen is expensive and confusing.

One of the many narrow streets Maybe it's very little sleep on the flights before, jet lag, or lack of Danish, but it also seemed that people did not really care to help us or make any kind of effort in general.
We finally made it to the last flight! Only an hour and a half to go till Vilnius! Upon arrival around 11:00pm we were quickly whisked to our hotel,
Old Market by the owners (quite personal service, by a couple of nice younger Finnish guys) and then we crashed. Woke up the next day to a nice breakfast an hour before our expectations (and our alarm), because apparently we had arrived the day before daylight savings ended. After breakfast we went back to sleep for a little longer - really almost two in the afternoon. Then we headed out for a stroll in Old Town, through Cathedral Square, up to the top of Gediminas Tower, and finally stopped for dinner at a very nice restaurant
Zemaiciai , and a trip to a store for snacks.
Vilnius is nice. People are friendly (except Amy getting trampled on a plane to Vilnius), and Russian is much more prevalent here than I expected. So we can get information and

station clock tower get around quite easily. It's not cold right now and a sweater/jacket combination works out quite nicely.
We got to snuggle a dog and I gave it a kiss, it was a very special treat. I think I will need more dog snuggling to tide me over until we see Hugo again, although the photo updates of him from Fay are making it much easier.
We are really enjoying our trip so far and will post more soon!
