Well we actually left Saturday morning to embark on our journey from Seattle and Orlando to New York for a layover before we were off to Venice, which we arrived on Sunday morning. Upon arriving in Venice we hopped on a bus heading to Cortina d'Ampezzo. Here are some of the pictures of scenery we encountered while on our bus ride to the Slendid Hotel Venezia hotel. upon arrival and checking into the hotel Slendid Hotel Venezia, we took pictures of the room, the very large and awkward room key as well as the view from the room that we got to see each day. After we were situated we started roaming the streets of Cortina. We decided to grab some lunch at Croda Cafe' which had some excellent food. Crystal had some spahgetti w/ meat sauce and a vodka and coke while i had 4 cheese gnocchi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnocchi) and a beer. After eating we walked the through the town which had all its stores closed for siesta so we snapped some pictures of the sites like the clock tower with adjacent church, some street signs and cars. Later in the evening after our first of many four course dinners, we
participated in a parade which was welcoming all the ski clubs from Florida. There's a few pictures of the festivities, including a Cortina peewee hockey team. After the parade and big presentation we got a free cup of hot wine, Vin Brule (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulled_wine) which was a very interesting experience. After we got our hot wine and headed back to the hotel we found a nice area where we snapped some pictures and relaxed a bit until we got a little too cold at which point we hit the grocery on the way home and called it a night.
