Breakfast at 7am, bus at 8pm. Arrividerci Rome! We’re on our way to Pisa and Florence.

Lunch in Pisa
Lunch in Pisa was rushed. Only 1.5 hours to have lunch, take photos, and shop for souvenirs. We take photos in front of the tower then go grab some lunch. We eat pizza (again) in a café overlooking the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Pizza is so easy to eat because you just point at the one you want then they heat it up. It’s also very cheap. With lunch out of the way we go souvenir shopping. There are mini leaning towers of Pisa everywhere. Also t-shirts, magnets, hats, shirts, bad quality fake designer bags, African souvenirs, jewellery, leather bags and wallets. We’ve become pretty good at picking out souvenirs. We’re done with time to spare.

Signa, Florence
Arriving at our hotel at 4.30pm, we’re early. Our hotel is in the suburbs about 20 mins train ride from the centre. I love it here. This is the first time I really feel like I’m in a different country. All the other places are beautiful but we’re always surrounded by other tourists (usually Aussies or Americans). Here it is just the

locals and us. Our hotel is next door to where the locals live.

After settling in we explore the neighbourhood. We find a lot of hairdressing salons, solariums, a few pizzerias, post office (closed), restaurants (closed). It’s 6.30pm when we decide we’re hungry. Again we eat pizza. Our favourite is cheese, tomato, Italian sausage. The base is thin and crispy and so yummy. We share 3 pieces. Todd has an Italian beer and I have a coke all for 7 Euros. We bump into some others exploring the neighborhood. We find out that the restaurants open at 7pm! So that’s why we couldn’t find any other places to eat! Oh wells our pizza was satisfying and we liked the lady at the pizzeria. She couldn’t speak English so there was a lot of finger pointing, head nodding and “grazie” going on. To end our meal we get some gelato from the gelattaria. Our meal tonight including gelato comes in at about $16 AUD.

Relaxing at the hotel tonight. Todd’s watching the France vs Mexico friendly. We’re also happy to know Australia beat Greece. Going to watch some American Inventor then off to sleep. Busy day in Florence tomorrow. Shopping for a leather jacket or bag or boots! Hope my credit card sorts itself out! My Virgin credit card hasn’t been working in Italy!!!! Lucky for the back up card!
