Yesterday I got to chat with my dad. With the time change, it is a little harder to actually get in touch with one another so I have been having daily chats with my mother mostly (who is retired and therefore at home in the middle of the day). Travelling ... is there anything better? Okay so getting through airport security is a hassle and you practically need a university degree just to figure out what you can and cannot bring in your carry-on. That aside, the feeling of seeing or experiencing something new cannot be beat. So far, I have been very fortunate to be able to carry out this dream of mine ... and hopefully there are many more trips to come in my future!... full info

Hi there ... in Florence I stayed at the Hotel Berna. Small hotel just across the street from the train station. I did not take any tours. I prefer the liberty of picking what I want to do. With this hotel, all of the major sights were pretty much within walking distance or just a short cab ride. I walked everywhere in Florence. One of my favorite stops on this trip and would definitely recommend it!!
