at Croce di Malta in Florence
I was surprised to find that our hotel in the middle of Floremce had a pool, so I inquired at the front desk, When is the pool open? I was all ready to take a swim the next afternoon only to find that they were having trouble with the balance of chemicals in the water and I would have to wait till tomorrow to swim. (**@#!!&+??)



The next morning, we visited the Accademia Museum to see the newly restored David by Michelangelo. Once, Michelangelo was asked whether David was difficult to sculpt; he responded that all he did was to chip away the parts that didn't look like him. Amazing!!


We had enough time to visit the Medici Chapels where there are four reclining statues by Michelangelo. Night & Day and Dawn & Dusk were sculpted by Michelangelo for this Medici family tomb. The two women and two men figures make you think you could touch them and feel warm skin when in fact they are hard marble. Again, amazing !!


We spent the afternoon resting and preparing for our Gala Renaissance Dinner. The Gala was such fun with musicians, chandlers, costumes, a

jester, dancers, servers, and a delicious meal. A good time was had by all.
