(My Street) Right this second I am sitting out the balcony of my window, eating an apple, and watching Italian people do what they do on Saturday afternoons. I tend to do this a lot. I watch the woman across apartments from me and next to me taking laundry off the hooks and hanging clothes up to dry. I see the men below me unloading things from their cars. I watch many kids of all ages walking and driving their scooters by laughing loudly and enjoying themselves. This is what makes Italy so great. Today and for the past couple of days it has been gorgeous. The weather is perfect. In the morning it is a little cold, in the afternoon it is actually very warm, and at night it gets colder. I love it! Anyways, things have been going. It is still crazy but has calmed down a bit. I am less busy and tend to have more free time. I am making tons more friends and meeting so many people everyday. Italian is becoming natural to me. Although I cannot speak it very well, I can basically understand anything anyone says to me. I love this language. Just like everyone says,

Me in front of my house! Italian is a beautiful language. I am beginning to think in Italian. I was watching an American movie with Meri the other day and obviously it was in English. I would take sentences out and just automatically translate it in my head and honestly it just came naturally. I think that is the coolest thing. Two weekends ago, I went to Modica and Raguzza with my host family. These are two cities in Sicily. Each city in Sicily is famous for something and has their own festival to celebrate it. We went to Modica for the chocolate festival. Modica is supposed to have the best chocolate in Sicily. Unfortunately, the festival was canceled. But, it was still fun to walk around these cities. Last weekend I had my first experience in the country of Niscemi. Whenever someone wants to have a party they have it in the country. Sunday, my friend Juseppe's aunt was having a party for her college graduation. He invited Marco and I. Basically they go to someones house with a huge backyard and just eat. I am not lieing on the just eat part. They eat, walk, smoke, then repite. and they do this many times!
It was fun though! Saturday night one of my friends Martina had a birthday party. In Italy when someone turns 18 they have huge parties in the country. I didn't get to stay for very long but it was fun! I haven't had Italian lessons for a week and 1/2. I think thats why I have so much free time. I kinda just want to get it going again because as soon as I finish 40 hours I will be done. Unfortunately I have only done 17. I have a while to go lets just say! Marco and I have a good schedule going. We go to the gym every Mon, Wed, and Fri. We have been good about it too and I am glad. Although it is way different than my gym experience in America and probably isn't doing much at all, it is still nice to get moving somehow. School has been boring. Honestly, it just doesn't interest me. I like going and seeing everyone but school just drags on for me. I live for when that bell rings at 1:30! Meri left for an AFS exchange week 2 days ago and I miss her like crazy. It
Marco a Modica!
Marco at Modica really has been great having her here. It is so nice to have someone who completely understands the ups and downs of being an exchange student. I am jealous though, I wish I had signed up to do the exchange week. Many people ask me why I didn't, I honestly don't remember why I didn't. I should have though. My two trips I have a chance to go on are up for grabs. Paris is in a month and England in a month an 1/2 and right now I am waiting on AFS. Something with AFS Italy says that Jess and I cannot go on these trips because we havent been residents in Italy for more than 6 months. I REALLY hope I can go. And Africa, I still here thats in the making. I am not going to get my hopes but, but I really do hope we go. I mean common, who gets to say I went to Africa! Anyways, I am started to get invited to do things which feels nice. I think people are catching up on the fact that I am starting to know the language and can speak it better so it would be
Insiemi a Modica
Together at Modica easier for me to come with them! What else? My mom sent two packages of oreos and they were gone in less than 3 days. I got another box from her two days ago and had spring oreos in them. Which they loved by the way because they were yellow in the inside. The oreo package got opened and I am not joking 5 hours later, the whole package was gone. Thanks so much by the way Mom. They keep asking, whens the next box coming? They love them! They weren't big fans of the marshmellows though. Oh well, still one of my favorites! Oh and American gum! Orbit, everyone loves. A few people asked me if I had gum and of course they were thinking Italian gum (which is also so good) but I said hey do you want American gum. I pulled out the package and their faces dropped and were like ORBIT! AHHHH! Not much more is happening here. I am trying to take pictures I just never remember to pull out my camera! I am sorry for the lack of pictures, I uploaded a few. Mr. Wilhelm, thankyou for writing me the comment. Next entry, I
promise you some more pictures!
The days are passing slowly and the weeks are passing fast. I am still drinking way to much coffee, eating way to much fruit, wearing the same two pairs of skinny jeans I have way to much, and loving my converses way to much!
Buon Pasqua! Happy Easter!
Love you guys so much! Miss you!
