Milan's cathedral is the third largest church in the world. It took 4 centuries to built it.Last weekend Erik and I went to Milan to visit our Italian friends. We had always been told that Milan was nothing really special and we would be better off going to Venice, Pisa, Florence, Rome…. What a bad advice! The only good thing about this bad advice was that we haven’t created expectations, and once we got there…. Milan pretty much exceeded all expectations!
Despite all the rain, we had a wonderful weekend with our dearest friends and enjoyed a bit of good food, beautiful sightseeing and of course, excellent shopping trips!
The least we can say about Milan is that it is glam! To my surprise, Milan is quite different than any other Italian city. Sorry if I will upset others, but Milan is a country apart! Very polite people and service, efficient public transport, reasonable prices and very good labels.
Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to go around, neither we managed to see the original Last Supper, as it was fully booked until Christmas. Not to worry because we will visit many other times…and have many more photos to share with you....
Tips:
1. book your ticket to see The Last
Supper, in Santa Maria delle Grazie well in advance;
2. go to Al Pont de Ferr restaurant at 55- Ripa di Porta Ticinesse - 02.89406277 (stunning wine list, food and prices) - also very well located for after parties!
3. Spare some time to visit Il Salvagent at Via F. LLI Bronzetti 16, where you will find the best labels in the world for ridiculous cheap prices. It is a much hidden place that only locals know about it. Really worth it!
