... and what lays behind us isn't that bad either
Just when the ABC effect (Another Bloody Church) began to haunt my head, our perfectly planned itinerary saw us escape to one of the more beautiful sites on the European coastline… the Cinque Terre. Five uniquely beautiful fishing villages, carved out of cliff, facing the tranquil Ligurian Sea. And boy did Mama Nature do her very best to ensure we could lap up every last minute...

Highs
1. The cliffs we walked were, well… high to say the least.

2. Capturing postcard perfect views of each of the villages whilst walking the trails that divide each town made for a relaxing change to the sightseeing we’d done previously.

3. Jonesy’s much anticipated return to the catwalk - after an abundance of Vinno Rosso, the hair model stripped and gave hostel revelers more than just a sneak peak of his locks and jocks

Lows
1. Visiting the five fishing villages - where fishing is strictly prohibited. Equipped with the words “Vorremo audare pescare” inscribed on my hand, the three of us were pointed in the direction of the sixth village, but upon arrival at the one place that hired fishing equipment we were greeted with the news that

Every local explored the Dulux colour scheme in meticulous detail
they were on a three hour siesta. No fish for dinner, it would be pizza again.

2. The sheer abundance of tourists, many of them Italian, that have in many ways stripped the villages of much identity.

3. It would be my recommendation that the unwelcoming hosts at Gioventu Ostello should invest in a lesson or two on how to work in the hospitality industry. Fun was discouraged, help was halfhearted, and generally our love for them lost. For the first time this trip our Aussie charm got us absolutely nowhere.
