Edit Blog Post

so i finally got all set up with this blog thing. i rarely have time to connect to the internet. the only spots where i can connect for long periods of time are at the university if i get here early enough before class. the wifi is really good here at the campus locations. the dorm wifi is really inconsistent and is super slow. but oh well. i really like it here. everything is starting to fall into place. it's really neat to see how quickly people become friends. it's also sad to realize our collective circumstance of being in a foreign country with limited and/or no language skills. i kind of had to step up to the plate and be a sort of impromptu translator during our daily excursions out to the market, the shops, the piazzas, restaurants, Rome, etc... it's helping me for sure. i am slowly but surely getting better at speaking Italian. some of the people in my dorm have been here for 4 and half months already and to me, they are extremely advanced. hopefully by the end of all this my skills will be close to perfect if not a hell of a lot better than now. anywho. i wish i had this blog up earlier so i could talk more in depth and passionately about prior events. to catch up, i missed my group flight from DC but ended up getting put on the next flight in first class. i was able to watch movies on my own private seventeen inch screen. my dishes/drinks were all in glass or ceramic, forks and spoons were metal, my knife was plastic (but a really nice sturdy colored plastic) and i was able to recline my 6 foot self to a flat angle and take a few short naps. very nice. sometimes it pays to be fashionably late. one of the girls got her laptop/ipod stolen the first day in the hotel (of which i missed because i was at 40,000 feet catching up to them). i bought a guitar...her name's Ariana. beautiful for how affordable and easy she was (that's how i like em! lol jk) met some straight cats who are down to jam. i feel really good chemistry among all the people here. there's a few people who i have yet to assess totally yet and even fewer whose first and second impressions have been a little gloomy. but oh well. also my first trip to the closest mall ended up with a robbery. we were in the food court and this dude ran literally 2 feet passed me with a bunch of hats scarfs and jackets on him with the tags still on. two carabinieri (military police) chased him. i missed my chance to be a hero. all i had to do was stick my foot out. oh well. ill get the next one. and oh yeah just the other night i witnessed a blue green shooting star out my dormroom window. really bad ass. i believe in signs and omens and stuff like that so that was definitely a good one. i have class in a bit and i still need to figure out this website. so this is all for now ( i dig the auto save feature )

ciao a dopo!
