We arrived to Douglas (Manx: Doolish) at the afternoon and first object that attracted our attension was Tower of Refuge. This is a small fairy tale castle shaped shelter build for sailors whose have could refuge until any help could arrive and take them to port. Main reason why the building was build were numerous shipwrecks in the Douglas Bay - ships were were wrecked upon the semi-submerged rocks. We heard previously or red anywhere this is possible to get to Tower of Refuge at the low tide. We had copied accurate time when the high and low tides occures we could plan exactly when we can get there. Okay, I confess...... I really didn't have any idea where Isle of Man is and where on earth is it situated until 2 years ago? Do you? To recap my journey to Isle of Man and what I think about it on my first visit? Firstly, I would start by saying "hello fairies" this is for good luck when passing the fairy bridge in Isle of Man and we certainly need all the luck in our life. So hear it goes... I absolutely like this place very much. It's a tiny island that has refreshing tales and history. It consist of only a population of around 80,000 people!! For me it is down right beautiful and I pretty much enjoyed driving around douglas head, Marine drive, Peal castle, Laxey wheel, fairy bridge, Snaefell, Glen Wyllin. The ... read more

Well we're here on the Isle of Man. We have spent four days here, absorbing the culture, and are preparing to head out for the ferry to Liverpool in the morning. We hope the ride to Britan is smoother than the ride from Dublin. Jay almost lost her cookies on the way here. So far our stay here has been free thanks to an incompetent park attendant who hasn't asked for any fees. We spent one day travelling all over the island by electric rail, steam rail, horse tram, and by a very cool three railed electric mountain railcar. We can't post pictures of these yet... but the're soon to come! We also checked out the museum, which was suprisingly huge.
