Entrance to the famour Blue Lagoon
After such a flat out day yesterday, today, our last day in beautiful Iceland was going to be one of relaxation. We repacked our gear and had breakfast before checking out of our hotel. It wasn’t long before our lift to the Blue Lagoon was here to pick us up and after a short drive we arrived at the famous Blue Lagoon. The walk to the entrance was quite picturesque in itself, with mounds of snow covered rocks either side of the path lying beside crystal clear water, coloured an incredible bright blue. It was quite expensive to get in, but despite this Hannah and I still considered the executive option but we cleverly decided against it. We got changed and met downstairs near the entrance of the lagoon itself. The beautiful bright blue coloured water had steam pouring off it, even though the outside was freezing cold the lagoon looked incredibly warm. There was just one problem. To actually get into the lagoon required going outside, walking through the snow in bare feet and hanging your towel before reaching the lagoon. We watched as people dashed, sometimes screaming towards the lagoon and the sigh of relief when they reached it,

it was strangely enjoyable to watch.

So enough stalling, Hannah and I raced outside towards the lagoon. It was unbelievably cold, our feet instantly went numb walking through the snow. But the second we reached the lagoon the warmth took over, it was lovely. We swam around, wading through mist coming off the water, it was so warm. The bottom was covered in rocks and a sludgy white mud which was apparently very good for your skin. We spent hours in the lagoon, swimming around exploring every corner, it was huge, much bigger than I expected. It was even snowing most of the time we were in there, so my head was cold, but everywhere else was lovely and warm. Eventually after our skin was pruning we raced out as fast as we cold and headed back upstairs to change. We grabbed a quick bite to eat at the café before making our way back to where our ride was waiting exactly where he dropped us off. We felt so relaxed, it was the best possible way to finish a short but amazing holiday in the beautiful country of Iceland.

We arrived at Keflavik airport and checked our

bags in. It was a few hours wait before we began to board our flight back into London. It was the first flight I had caught which required de-icing due to the heavy snowfall. It was also quite a turbulent flight back to the UK, I was happy to finally land! After an awesome break, to one of the most unique and friendly places I’d ever been, we were back in London.
