Nestled just past the Pilis mountains, a stone’s throw away from the capital lies the highest peak of the Visegrád mountains: Dobogókő - Birthplace of the Hungarian Tourist Association. From the 1800s the area was considered by the pioneers of Hungarian tourism to be so beautiful that not just the first hiking tracks in Hungary were laid out here, but also the first retreats were built here.

We commenced the tour overlooking the ski slope.

We stopped At the Marian pilgrimage site for the Deaf. The shrine was formed in 1926, blessed in 1927, and subsequently restored in 1991. This small terraced area provides a peaceful space for quiet prayer and meditation.

Today was a National holiday so the trails were quite busy but Adam steered clear of the crowds so we could enjoy the natural beauty with unparalleled views of the Danube Bend, Borzsony mountains, and some of Slovakia's high mountains from two lookout points.
